The more I know about ancient cultures, the happier I am I don't visit them in a time machine.

Roman during the Pax Romana would at least be stable and quiet. Roman during the Crisis of the Third Century or the Barbarian Invasions would be nightmarish. Greek life could get real violent, real fast, with all the city-states and leagues jockeying for position.

I'll take my chances on being a Roman and hope I land squarely in the Pax Romana.
