I'm really looking forward to the new Indy, but it might not make it for 23 release though.

Naturally the new Guardians is going to be awesome no matter what...I doubt it can fall on it's ass like Thor did.....

Expendables 4 should be very interesting as well. Sly did say that it would be the start of a new trilogy featuring more "newer" stars...

Equalizer 3 is another one I'm interested in...I quite enjoyed the first 2...Washington's best roles I think.

Dune was a bit of a letdown eventhough the universe is very interesting...I still prefer the miniseries. But since it was cut in the middle so stupidly I kind of have to see part 2 as well.

Lethal Weapon 5 will start filming early 23 so that won't make it until 24...

I've only seen the first John Wick and thought it was pretty garbage....haven't really had any interest in the others...

Didn't know they were making Meg sequal...I enjoyed it. Kind of like Jaws on steroids.

I haven't even seen Antman 2 yet...didn't really enjoy the first one as much as the other MCU movies...I think it's on the bottom side along with the god awful Captain Marvel and the weak Black Panther.
I have seen all other main MCU movies and enjoyed them a lot...minus the last Thor, which had it's moments but was lacking the "it" factor for some reason...

Should’ve also mentioned that the latest instalment of the Mad Max franchise “Furiosa” a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road directed by George Miller and staring Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy as a young Furiosa was originally scheduled for release in mid 2023 but has now been pushed back to mid 2024.

Can’t wait for that one.

Thanksgiving time here in the USA, so we dusted off Planes, Trains, and Automobiles for a watch.

Had it not been for the scene with 19 uses of the f-word, it would have been PG. Instead, it got the same rating as Robocop and Predator. :D

@Thel

Couldn't agree more. The last one is my favourite film of all time!

@Zzzptm

That's just wrong!

Since I had not read the books, I felt unsure about seeing the movies. I actually bought them in a steel book with an extra disc for each movie filled with special features. It sat there for years, and I did not watch it.
I am so glad that I finally watched them and consider them the greatest fantasy movies I have ever seen and just fabulous movies in general. The only trilogy I prefer is the original Star Wars saga.

Absolutely. The guy had so much heart in his characters.

The Weird Al Yankovic "biography" - Weird

Daniel Radcliffe is AMAZING in this film, he's got great comedy timing, reaction, intensity, this guy's on fire. And the script is hilariously over-the-top, taking some extreme liberties with actual events. If you're a fan of Weird Al and Doctor Demento, this is right up your alley. It provided some of the hardest laughs I've had, ever, and the cameos prove there are no such things as small roles, just small actors. It will make you Google up all kinds of crazy questions during the commercial breaks.

Yes, there are commercial breaks on the Roku free-to-watch version. I just muted them, did my Googleing about "Did Weird Al really..." and then got back to the laff riot.

I enthusiastically recommend it to one and all IF AND ONLY IF you really get into Weird Al Yankovic. The English Patient, it's not. :smug:

PACIFIC RIM

A breach appeared underneath the pacific ocean and huge monsters called Kaiju appear and mankind has to unite and build massive robots called Jagers to fight them. Battle to close to breach brings back a robot operator who quit after his brother died and is paired with a trainee who also has personal reasons to fight.

Guillermo Del Toro brings non stop massive action on a massive scale. The effects are great and both the robots and the monsters look really cool.

The cast features Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam (from Sons Of Anarchy), Ron Perlman (also from SOA) and Rinko Kikuchi. All do a good job, Perlman stealing the show ofcourse.

This is a really fun and entertaining action flick and the two hours just flew by.

Romance on the High Seas (1948)

So I went to the office and discovered I had forgotten my cardkey to get in, and nobody else was at the office - apparently there's a management offsite today - so I went back to my hotel room for work. Decided to turn on the TV and it was on Turner Classic Movies. I was about to switch the channel, but I got sucked in by the humorous plot and that slick late 40's line delivery. I kept watching as I did email and some other chores and had a lovely time with it. Turns out, it was Doris Day's film debut, so now I've seen that. I didn't plan on ticking that box, so I'll just draw that in on my plans... and... yep, done it. :D

It's a screwball comedy if ever there was. Loads of mistaken identity hijinks and French farce door slamming as characters pass and just miss each other. It's a piece of film candy, nothing in it worth digging for it, but should you stumble across it, let it play on for some harmless late 40s fun.

Might just let the next flick play, since I can't cast to the television in the hotel room as another monitor, lolz.

It's the 1947 film noir The Red House. It's got Edward G. Robinson in the lead role as a farmer with a dark secret and he's already chewed up enough scenery for my liking. :D

Still watching it, this is a fun old flick. Story is getting telegraphed, but I don't mind. Edward G. Robinson is such a treat to watch.

BLACK ADAM

Dwayne Johnson stars as an ancient superhero with god-like powers who gets woken up by a resistance fighter trying to save a precious artifact with supernatural powers from falling into the wrong hands.

The cast in the movie is nothing short of suberb, with Johnson we have the incredibly beautiful Sarah Shahi, Aldis Hodge and the legendary Pierce Brosnan who is the light of the movie for sure.

The action is well done and the effects are good...

BUT the story is total nonsense. First we're fighting against an evil company with mercenaries, then with other superheros and then with some strange demon...it's like they couldn't decide what to do so they went "Oh hell, let's just do everything that people might like!" and throw it in a blender and see what comes out...and what came out was a strange mess of action scenes cobbled together with some mediocre to bad dialogue.

This seems to be the story with DC movies...you see they have great casts and you go into the movie wanting to like it but you come out thinking "What fresh mess was that!?"
And what's strange the DC tv-shows Arrow, Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow and to some extent Supergirl have all been great...so why can they do good on tv but movies always turn out to be a hot mess? Is it all because of the genius of Greg Berlanti? Should they get him to do the movies as well? Maybe..

Sad truth is that they are miles and miles behind Marvel in everything they do.

One star for Pierce Brosnan and one star for Sarah Shahi...that's about it.

Just recently saw Bringing up Baby, the 1938 screwball comedy with Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant.

Laugh out loud funny, almost the whole way through. Such a sweet, funny, hilarious romp! If you haven't seen it and need a laugh, see it and get. that. laugh.

The first cinema trip for a while, and as it's the girlfiends birthday tomorrow we went and saw...

Magic Mike's Last Dance Dir Steven Soderbergh

Starring Channing Tatum, Salma Hayek and few others that I've heard of.

A continuation of the male erotic dancer series, this time Mike has fallen on hard times and is working as a Miami barman. Hayak is a wealthy divorcee who owns a London theatre. While on a charity trip to Miami she comes across Mike who does a dance for her. She hires him to revamp the theatres current show.

While there are some interesting set pieces the story is moronic and poorly realised, the supporting cast are weak but that's probably because they are there for their dancing abilities. It's had poor reviews and I suspect it'll flop badly, even the girlfiend didn't think much of it. I'll give it 4/10

Not sure if this counts as a "movie", but I watched it today while our forum was throwing a tantrum. It's an hour long documentary that discusses planned obsolescence, pretty cool if you've never given it much consideration before.

^ Plan to watch that, thanks.

We watched The Story of Princess Kaguya last night, a stunning animation from Studio Ghibli about the oldest known Japanese folk tale. It was on HBO, so only the English dub was available, but James Caan and Mary Steenburgen did an excellent turn at voice acting. EXCELLENT work, let me underline that. Captivating and enchanting, I highly recommend it.
