Eye in the Sky (2015)

A UK-based military officer (Helen Mirren) in command of a top secret drone operation to capture terrorists in Kenya discovers the targets are planning a suicide bombing and the mission escalates from “capture” to “kill.”  Just as a strike order is given, a 9 year old girl enters the kill zone, triggering an international dispute reaching the highest levels of US and British government over the moral, political, and personal implications of modern warfare.  Great suspense showing the high tech side of war.  9/10

It's a while since I saw that, I remember it being pretty good. But mainly I remember it as being Alan Rickman's last film.

You're right, I forgot to mention that.

He was memorialized in the closing credits.

Remember (2015)

An elderly man (Christopher Plummer) with dementia goes in search of the person responsible for the death of his family.  Helping him is a fellow Auschwitz survivor (Martin Landau) who is staying at a local nursing facility.  Great acting by these 2 veteran actors.  9/10

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, a tradition around here. Also a tradition is The Muppets' Christmas Carol.

Arthur Newman (2012)

A story of a man (Colin Firth) who fakes his own death and assumes a new identity in order to escape his life.  He then meets a woman (Emily Blunt) who is also trying to leave her past behind.   Interesting and enjoyable.  8/10

The Alto Knights (2025)

The true story of two of New York's most notorious organized crime bosses, Frank Costello and Vito Genovese (both played by Robert De Niro).  After returning from a stay in Italy in order to avoid arrest from a previous crime, Genovese wants to take back control of the city's streets.  But Costello is reluctant to give his once best friend too much power.  This leads the 2 on a deadly collision course that will reshape the Mafia (and America) forever.  The film was a little slow at times, but fairly accurate.  7/10

Johnny English (2003)

An ordinary pencil pusher working for MI7, Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson) is suddenly promoted to super spy after Agent One is assassinated and every other agent is blown up at his funeral.  When a billionaire (John Malkovich) sponsors the exhibition of the Crown Jewels, the valuable gems disappear on the opening night and on English's watch.  The new agent must jump into action to find the thief and recover the missing gems.

I always liked Rowan Atkinson's Mr. Bean show, so I decided to give this film a shot.  Glad I did.  Good laughs throughout, especially in the last third of the movie, which is quite hilarious.  8/10

Funnily enough I like Rowan Atkinson "despite" Mr Bean :D  The Johnny English character is like a half way between Mr Bean and his other characters, so works for me!

^^
I frankly have never been a big Atkinson fan...part from the show Black Adder. That one was absolutely brilliant!

I have tried to watch Johnny English but I never made it past the half way point....  :-\

A QUIET PLACE PART II

The events start right after the first part ended with the surviving Abbot family members in search of a new safe haven from the creatures. They come across an old friend and Regan tries to find a way to utilize her new found creature deterrent.

Much more creatures are shown in this one and there is more action but the lack of a main character brings the movie down.

Emily Blunt does a great job once again but Cillian Murphy as the new male lead is awful. Millicent Simmonds' Regan Abbott rises to the occation though and does a great job through out.

This is bigger in almost every way but frankly it has lost some of it's charm in the process....The creatures look scary enough but there still isn't much gore present which is always a shame for a movie like this.

A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE

In New York City a terminally ill cancer patient tries to find a slice of pizza when strange creatures fall from the sky and start attacking and killing people, it soon becomes evident that they hunt by hearing alone so quietness is the key.

The prequal gives us a ton more creatures but an exceptionally boring story with a horrible lead actress in Lupita Nyong'o...her character is about as unrealistic as it can get. And the movie just kinds of drags along with her ruining almost every scene she is in. Luckily Joseph Quinn joins about half way through and he tries to save what is salvageable.
But atleast there is a cat who pretty much carries the whole movie!

This could have been really great, but instead we get a series of ridiculous scenes with a couple of scary action sequences thrown in.

John Krasinski should have never ever given the reigns to Michael Sarnoski who clearly did not know what he was doing.

An incredibly dull prequel. I'm giving one extra star for the cat though.

Peppermint (2018)

After the murders of her husband and daughter, a grieving mother (Jennifer Garner) turns vigilante, eluding the authorities to deliver her own personal brand of justice.   Apparently, within 5 years of training, she has developed the skills of a sharp shooter, the power of Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the fighting ability of Jason Statham.  She can withstand blows to the head, bullet injuries and body slams.  I don't watch the Marvel films, but I doubt Wonder Woman could do the things this chick can do.  It should be pretty clear at how absurd I think this movie is.  3/10

Every time I've eluded the authorities, it's ended in a 3/10 kind of situation. I'm glad nobody's made any movies about those escapades... :D

Mean Dreams (2016)

In a remote small town, two teenagers meet and fall for each other.  But after the boy witnesses the girl's corrupt father (Bill Paxton), who is also the sheriff of the town, commit murder, the two must go on the run.  Fine acting amid plenty of suspense made this film work for me.  9/10
