...And just to add. There are some that just didn’t like the direction a band went in with the new/replacement singer or the actual tone and delivery of the new/replacement singer...Or in some cases both.

Fucking crazy eh? It’s hard to get your head around  :twitch:

If you don’t like a replacement singer because of the way he sounds or the tone direction the music took, that’s different.

There are those that even consider Dickinson to be "the replacement singer". Thinking of Billy, here. :)

Haha! True that! To him Iron Maiden was only with DiAnno... Man we had some fun debates about that over the years.

I like Dickinson, I found Maiden through him, just that he got boring and Blaze brought a whole new energy to the band, even if it were short lived.

Was listening to The X Factor yesterday, great album, Sign of the Cross.

This story is a few years old as there isn’t much going on in the music industry right now so a lot of music sites are regurgitating old stories and this came across my feed today. Very enlightening I must say and very much still relevant today.

Blaze is such an incredibly humble and down to earth guy...and he's been through so much...the loss of Debbie was a big hit for him...she was a stellar person...I had the privilege of knowing her too...through the internet ofcourse but still...what a lovely person...and she worked hard for Blaze too...so it was devastating blow when she passed...It a sheer wonder that Blaze was able to carry on after that. And elevate himself on a new level too both in his singing and song writing...it's like he wanted to push himself further to honor Debbie.

There is a reason why Blaze is so incredibly loved by his fans. The guy always takes the time to sign stuff, take pictures and just talk to the fans night after night on every single show he does.

I remember few years ago when he and DiAnno did that one tour together, Blaze played first and then when DiAnno hit the stage Blaze came out in the bar to sign stuff and talk to the fans...there were more people queuing to talk to Blaze than there were watching DiAnno play! :D
I was among the first to chat Blaze on that night as I had no interest in seeing DiAnno butcher those Maiden classics and soon there was a huuuge line behind me, so I had to move on but we still had a nice chat and got my stuff signed. I didn't stay to see DiAnno but I heard afterwards he never came out to see the fans...but Blaze stayed on even after that! What a guy.

Sounds like he’s had more downs than ups in his personal and professional life. Getting the lead singers role in Maiden is a huge feather in anyone’s cap though.

It’s great that he treats his fans well too but managing only 50 fans at a show is probably a lot easier than managing many hundreds or thousands and if you are only getting 50 people at your shows you probably want to go out of your way to give them the best and most memorable experience you can to make sure you keep them as fans. Unlike the super arrogant Di’Anno who couldn’t give a fuck about giving the fans a great experience.

Not to get sidetracked, but Di'Anno's history is a patchwork of constant turmoil. Ironically, he was brought into Maiden because he was *more* stable than their first singer!

Good on Blaze for taking care of his fans! I always love it when artists can give as much as they can to their fans, never do like it when a distance has to exist for security or logistical purposes.
