Definitely not my thing. I fear the worst with these sulphurous biopics that are starting to become fashionable :  Bohemian Rhapsody aka Queen Biopic, Lords of Chaos aka Mayhem Biopic and now this one ...
I don't understand the attraction that can have this kind of films, especially when we know these bands so well for so many years.

Fair point and I agree somewhat. I don't usually go for these type things but being a big Crüe fan growing up and having read the book when it came out which I found an utterly captivating and amazing read I couldn't help but think at the time what a great movie it would make if done properly. Now it's come to fruition I can't help but be excited to finally watch it even though the acting will probably be shit with corny dialogue and it will most likely be riddled with timeline faults and big jumps in the story...
Just from trailer though it already makes the Queen movie look like an episode of The Bold and the Beautiful.

Well here's the trailer

I just might get Netflix for a couple of months just to see this, it actually looks pretty interesting.

No point me commenting on The Dirt movie until someone else has watched it otherwise I'd feel I'm just talking amongst myself. Plus I don't really want to give anything away or anyone to have predetermined ideas about it before they've actually seen it.

Suffice to say I've watched it three times already.

Discman reviewed it in the Movies thread the other day:

I watched The Dirt on Netflix yesterday. Not really sure what to say. It was Okay, nothing great. Problem was I think for me was I already knew all the stories and such reading them in the Rock Magazines. Nothing shocking really. Acting was decent and the scenes dealing with Vince's daughter having Cancer was very emotional. 6.5/10

Yeah I wasn't overly impressed, but if you are a Crue fan you need to see it. The acting was great but I feel like they glossed over stuff that could have gone in more detail.

I will probably give it another go at some point just to make sure I didn't miss something.

Yeah as I'd posted previously in this thread my fear was the running time of the movie was no where near long enough to do any sort of justice to the book. After the first 45 minutes or so it felt  rushed with big jumps in the timeline and lots of stuff left out and subsequently it lacks the heart and soul of the book. It's more like a highlights package of some of the  more shocking and crazy stuff from the book.  Would've worked much better as a two or three part series. In saying that, I still enjoyed it quite a bit, I had fun seeing that stuff acted out on screen.  You get a vision in your head on how things were when you read the book and I think they nailed that pretty well, particularly the Ozzy scene. So all in all I did feel it was a bit of a letdown and it could've been so much better but still enjoyed enough to watch another two times.

Anyone that's not interested in watching The Dirt but is curios about the Ozzy scene, here it is.
If you do plan on checking out the movie don't watch.

So I just got done watching half of the Dirt, and I was very underwhelmed. I did pick up the soundtrack just to show my support for the whole idea though. I will try and get through the rest later today or tomorrow.

Finished it and I must say that it was more interesting in it's second half. I do however think that it could have been better but for what it was it did the job quite nicely.
I am enjoying the soundtrack minus the ridiculous Madonna cover and I am glad that it is not just a greatest hits compilation.

Glad you enjoyed the movie somewhat Thel. I've been listening to the soundtrack quite a bit too. Digging the new songs, particularly The Dirt(Est. 1981)I don't mind the arrangement of Like A Virgin, just doesn't suit Vince's voice though.

Just read that Jake E Lee is saying the ant thing never happened. He said that maybe a spider and that the pee happened, but no ants.

I did enjoy it and I have the book but for some reason it all seemed very rushed. Like you had previously posted it should have been episodic so they could have told a lot more of what was in the book.

It did remind me of the 80s and the wild times that went on. I also should state that I am a huge Motley Crue fan so theoretically this movie was for me.

The soundtrack is solid and I am so glad they included some deeper cuts.

I’m yet to see this movie, I hear it’s sexually graphic, almost pornographic.
