Yeah, I'm signing up for the walking trail. I'm a walking trail kind of man, you could say.

Yep. I was reading about folks that do that "freesolo" type of rock climbing. Some do it for the thrill - one guy stated, "how can you know what safety feels like if you don't know fear?" And some do it to be, as another person said, "free of encumbering ropes and other things, to be one with the rock and experience the rock as nature intended."

And yeah, they do fall sometimes. One woman fell from what everyone said was an easy climb that was way beneath her abilities. Fell 500 feet to her death. The next day, at the same place, another guy fell about 100 feet but landed on a ledge of some kind. Paralyzed from the neck down now.

I guess they became one with the rock...

Hey Z - or anyone for that matter - have you ever done any programming with Lisp? Specifically the SBCL version?

I haven't done any in many years, but even when I did I never touched Lisp. And now we're trying to be sold some software, written in Lisp.

I wrote quite a few programs in LISP when I was in graduate school.  I don't know what version.  It is a very unusual programming language, but I enjoyed it.  All the other computer languages I have learned, about 7 or 8 of them, have similarities to one another, except LISP.

That's cool Typhon. It's straightforward once I got my mind around the paradigm shift because you're correct - it's unusual. Out of the ordinary. Lots of parentheses.

Which wasn't an issue - the immutable types, that I don't even set nor can change throughout a variable's lifetime, was the hardest thing for me to internalize. But I got enough of it to be able to do a sufficient job code reviewing the org's offering so it worked out

I just noticed that underneath the Sports category, it list's the following examples:

"Football, hockey, figure skating & working out". 

Really!  Figure skating!  Has anybody in the history of the Community ever discussed figure skating?

I believe it was put out there as a joke! Like you CAN talk about that too over there if you want to!

It's all part of spanning the globe to bring you the constant variety of sport; the thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat.

I was reading this article about the most attractive hobbies a man can have, according to women, where it showed the following chart.



Notice in the number 1 spot is Reading at 98.2%.  I have never in my life ever heard of a guy going to the library and getting a date out of it.  But, then again, I have never understood women, so who am I to talk.  Some of the other hobbies in the list are kind of surprising as well.  Near the bottom of the list at 88.2% is Blacksmithing.  Maybe I'll shoot to the hardware store today and buy an anvil.

My wife said no on "reading", as she knows I read a lot of Economic History, so she wants to hear about what I'm reading in detail like she wants to get a tooth removed.

The least attractive hobbies included comic books, Magic: The Gathering, and drinking. My wife agrees with those assessments.

Hmmm...

I find that list flawed.

I dabble in Astronomy,  Foreign Languages, Writing and Gardening and yet no women has ever found me attractive...

But then again I don't read, I don't play any instruments nor do I cook or Swim...so more strikes than hits for me so maybe the list isn't so flawed after all...

But BLACKSMITHING??? Do women even know what that is???
