I'm not surprised he was there, he's posted some stuff on FB that he's a Trump supporter. Personally, I prefer my music favourites to be politically neutral, but that will rarely happen, so I just ignore that side of things. He posted a few months back on the Iced Earth FB page that people should watch some pro-Trump broadcast... he got a lot of negative responses for that.

I don't know if the publicity will be bad for him (except that it might get him arrested ), but people often say that "no publicity is bad publicity", it brings Iced Earth into the public eye.

I’m surprised Ripper Owens wasn’t with him, he’s pro Trump also and likes to let that be known although he’s seemed to have tempered that in recent months. Maybe he was attracting too much backlash.

I think this could be bad news for Schaffer. First of all he’s got the law to contend with, then he’s got the backlash from fans and the general metal community which has already started. Then you’ve got the cancel culture lynch mob who could be out to get him also putting pressure on record companies, promoters and venues to cancel him and his band in the future. On top of that, most of these metal news sites/social media pages are run by left wing activists which equals bad publicity.

I’m with you though Kilo, I’d prefer these musicians keep their political views/alliances to themselves.

I expect the Tom Morellos of the music scene to talk politics, because they are activists. For everyone else, it's a fine line between creating music that is social commentary versus standing on stage (so to speak) and mouthing off for/against your political person of choice.

I honestly couldn't care less about bands political views...UP to the point when they start spewing either that typical liberal hate (like Dee Snider, Paul Stanley or Sebastican Bach) or some truly racist bullshit...can't think of an example on that though...but I'm sure there are those as well.

But I also think that publically musicians should follow Alice Cooper's lead and not talk about politics. It's not their place to preach their "always 100%" right views to everyone else.

Also I don't understand why they do. Because by doing that you're obviously alienating 50% of your fan base...it's bad business too.

Whatsapp is unuseable as they pretty much read every sent message and spread it around and there isn't a private bone in that shit. Not to mention how easily hackable it is and how it access your entire data.

Yes, I know what Jack meant.  It would have been worse because all the Trump bigots would go out and loot stores, damage property and hurt innocent people.  And then you wouldn't hear a peep out of Zzz about how wrong all that was.

Well, it seems that bits and pieces of video and snapshot evidence is coming out showing that the dudes that broke in to the Capital building were antifa members pretending to be Trump supporters.  With the aid of facial recognition software these phonies are slowly being exposed, one of which is the guy with the barbarian outfit in one of the pictures that Vyn posted above.  I guess the plan was to create some destruction and then let the main stream media do what they do best, push another false narrative.

I have no doubt there were some antifa dudes there as well causing mayhem. That's what they do. Just like I am sure there are a few far right extremists on their protests as well....

But all in all compared to the BLM riots of the summer there was practically no damage at all part from the capitol hill itself...when in the summer the whole city was in flames...so bit different scale with the Maga crowd and the BLM crowd...

But not condoning this either...silly thing to do...and it only caused more harm than good...just like those BLM riots.
