I really do miss that guy. But I just close my eyes and remember him, full of life and energy. He was such an easy guy to be friends with, if you were an emotionally honest person like him.

Yep I miss him everyday I log in. He's the best person I ever knew but never met.

Im sure his boss would pay to put him up in much more lavish accommodation than what I could offer

That's what I'm waiting on, if it should happen. I'm basically the backup if they can't find anyone from the team that normally handles this work that's available for the three weeks.

Would my clothes from the USA be compatible with Australian washing machines? Or will I need to buy a completely new wardrobe down there?

You can bring your cowboy hat and boots, but make sure you leave your six-shooter at home.

Noted. I also plan to bring my horse on board as a service animal. I have trouble walking and standing for long times, so that would really help getting through the airport.

Not sure about that but coming from Texas if you're gonna be visiting any of the southern states make sure you bring plenty of warm clothing. It's winter down here atm and the wind-chill factor might be like something you've never experienced before.

The winter part I knew about.

The wind chill I did not know... one doesn't normally associate Australia with winter winds. Then again, if it's a big, flat place in the cold southern seas with NOTHING to block the incoming winds for thousands of miles, I'd imagine they could get pretty nasty.

It's really only the southern states like Victoria & Tasmania that get the severe wind-chill but I doubt you'd be going to Tassie.

You won't know how to dress in Melbourne, its famous(or infamous) for having 4 seasons in one day

Looking at the data for Melbourne, I do believe it may not have *any* typical weather!
