Giving a spin to Slayed, Slade in Flame, and Old New Borrowed and Blue.

There's some great fun in these records. I have to say I'm really enjoying this trio of albums. No idea why they didn't make it in the USA until the 80s.

Still on my Slade kick. Did not know that AC/DC asked Noddy Holder to replace Bon Scott at first.

Makes sense, the guy's great to watch and listen to.

Haven't hit a bad album yet, and I'm on the Slade Alive album which is hitting me right where it's good.

I'm not surprised they didn't really make it in the US, they were glam rock and not many UK glam rock bands made it over the pond. Even T.Rex and The Sweet didn't do that great.

But yes, they have a good stock of songs and were one of the biggest bands in the UK during the early-mid 70s.

TBH, previous to now I'd only known them through Quiet Riot and "Merry Xmas Everybody". They've got such a strong body of work, even in their unpopular phases. Their "Whatever Happened to Slade" album, for example, is one of the biggest influences for a whole galaxy of bands, yet the thing barely registered in sales or airplay.

They're the very definition of "underrated" when it comes to US audiences. Apparently, the only people that listened to them here went on to become massively popular punk, metal, grunge, or alternative bands.
