^^Not a Deep Purple live album without Blackmore. Seriously, I'd rather listen to Brad "whammy bar" Gillis doing Iommi than Steve Morse playing Blackmore. Far less painful to listen to.

Absolutely EVERYTHING in this post is so incorrect and ignorant it's not even funny. Not only is Steve Morse one of the best guitar players in the world he is PERFECT for Deep Purple and unlike Blackmore he isn't a dick...
But what ever...you listen to your whammy bars...like I care! :D

After the thunderous departure of Blackmore, I left Purple aside. The Bolin syndrome, no doubt. For a long time, I deliberately avoided everything that was related to Morse/Purple. I was so wrong. Then, gradually, while listening to music online, I discovered and appreciated more and more material of the Morse era. It was very late because the first album listened entirely was Now What?! . Some titles of Purpendicular also made me open my ears. A bit like the Monkey Puzzle of UFO vs. Schenker era. Some songs have really the effect of an opening door.
Thanks again to the former members of BSO and members of the Community for leading me to discover these albums with Morse, especially my friend Charger!
My opinion changed completely on Steve Morse, as well as my respect for this humble and competent musician.
My last update is this fantastic double Live At The Olympia '96, with titles that Blackmore himself did not want to play in public anymore. Do not get me wrong, I consider Ritchie as a living God, right after the Master Iommi.
Finally, this live Purple is perhaps not a Classic like those of the 70s, but it is of a very high quality.
Charger, you have to continue to express your tastes, like all of us here.  :pub:

Hey that's just awesome buddy! I am glad some of us were able to turn you back to Purple. :)

I have to say I too am not too keen on Bolin...But it is hard to consider that album a Purple album anyways.

Yeah Ritchie was the ace back in the day there is no doubt about it. 70s Ritchie is and will always be my second favourite guitar player ever.

Steve Morse is quite a different personality than Ritchie now isn't he...modest as hell and kind of quiet and never makes a big fuzz about him or his playing, yet delivers 100% every time and not just when he's in a good mood! :D
