Indeed. But well deserved win for Belgium though as they were miles above Japan in almost every turn.


Best match of the tournament so far...and there's a strong chance this will be THE best match of the whole tournament!

So today we have:

Sweden vs Switzerland

Colombia vs England

I can see a team starting "Sw" progressing to the quarters... but I've no idea which! I think Switzerland are ranked higher so I'll go with them!

In the other game if England doesn't win it inside 120 minutes we'll lose the penalty shoot out... we always do! It could go either way, Naturally I'm sorta edging towards England but it will be close, maybe just a single goal in it.

Phew! with Belgium .. I watched the replay today and what a cracking game of football... Can't help but think that Japan cost themselves the win though by not shutting the game down when they went 2 - 0. Instead they chased that 3rd goal and opened it for Belgium to score and then steal the win.   
                                                                                           
Will be rooting hard for England tonight. Am thinking they could even give the Colombians a bit of a touch up. If they get past Colombia they're a great chance to get through to the semi final.

Also hoping the Swedes get up in regular time as I took them in a treble with Belgium and Brazil last night.

I backed Belguim at the start of the tournament but I've since also had a sneaky bet on France as I've been mightily impressed with them so far and Belgium will have to beat them to make the final. Don't think the winner will come from the other side of the draw unless Russia happens to get through.

Sweden vs Switzerland...I'm betting on a draw here...both teams are rather slow and defence oriented. But after 90 minutes I would very much like to see the Swiss win...just because I really really really don't want to see Sweden win.

Colombia vs England...I agree with Charlie that if this goes to penalty kicks England has so much bad carma from those that all bets are off...but I doubt we'll get that far. England has played it's best footsy in years and years now and Colombia wasn't nearly as strong anymore as they were 4 years ago so England should finish this in the first 90 mins..

First half went as expected. Quite uneventful...Sweden had their chances which they ofcourse screwed up as usual.

But I am bit disappointed with Switzerland...

Well, I'm just off out fot the evening so I will miss the England match (but I'll keepo up with the score). This could be a good thing, as I missed the first 60-70 minutes of the Panama match by which time they were 6-0 up and I only saw the consolation goal for Panama live!

Typical Sweden again....majority of the time they just walk around the field and get nothing done and then one lucky shot and they are in the lead...there is a reason why we call them "lucky Swedes"....
