I do like to get around. I got bit by the travel bug back in 2006 when I got a chance to go to China (I wrote a history of China, and my publisher sent me over there). Since then, I've been to several countries and have done some massive road trips with the family around historical themes.

I also now travel 30-40% of the time for my work. This month, it's 100% travel, so it was nice to have at least a few days to play, even if I couldn't have my wife with me on this trip. Once the kids are 100% on their own, we're looking at her coming with me as an option. If it's a place like Scranton, she'll wish me well as she sees me off. If it's a tad more exotic, she's up for joining along.

We said goodbye today to our lovely, friendly tortoise-shell cat Izzy. We were blessed to know her for 10 years, but don't know how old she was when we got her. A friendlier cat I've never known. She was old and got thin and slow - today, she pretty much just went to sleep and didn't wake up.

She was such a sweet little cat, and I'll have memories of her settling on my lap as I worked from home, typing while she purred.

Awww man...that's horrible. Losing a cat is just like losing a family member cause that's what they are. So sorry for your loss buddy.

Thanks guys...the little guy is doing well...he's already sleeping on my lap and spending time in bed with me every night... Leo's bit afraid of him though so they don't share  the bed.

Now I do have the daunting task of naming the little bugger...it's always a hard task...as I want the name to be bilingual...english and finnish...and that's not easy.
