I'll finish it but not with any satisfaction. I love both these albums to death and as I've said I find them impossible to split but I will separate them on the basis that I think MOP was a crowning achievement and the peak of their thrash era not to mention Cliff's last great work before he was tragically killed!

Therefore, I officially declare Master Of Puppets the Winner!

I can live with that. Let it be written that Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning are very close in quality, pretty much both are required listening for any self-respecting metalhead. Kill 'Em All would benefit from better production, but it's still a solid offering.

After the Metallica album, you're in the territory where diehard fans are going to enjoy most of the stuff, but other fans may not find them as great as the first 5.

1. Metallica (yup, i'm that bland)
2. Master Of Puppets
3. Ride The Lightning
4. Kill 'Em All, ...And Justice For All, Load (tied, because they're all essential Metallica albums, and flesh out their entire sound)
7. ReLoad (ok, might be Hardwired is better, but i don't know that album well enough to really compare. BUT, ReLoad is the worst of the pre St. Anger albums by far. Just goes to show, if you've got enough material for a double album, don't put all the good stuff on the first and the rest on a second and expect it to work out.)
8. Hardwired
9. Death Magnetic (" this time they've gone back to their Thrash roots" yeah, right...)
10. St. Anger ("this time they've gone back to a more Metal sound after the Load albums" yeah, right...)
