That's kind of interesting how that article just pretty much lumps every comedy under sitcom...not the way I see it.

But the genres in tv shows aren't that different from the genres in music...there can be genres under genres under genres and then they can also be lumped together...

In the USA, we got loads to choose from... Looking them over, I'd consider the following to be "Greats" in addition to the ones mentioned above:

I Love Lucy
The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show
Police Squad!

Honorable mentions I would give to shows like 30 Rock, Community, Parks and Recreation, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Of those, P&R has the best character: Ron Swanson.

The Cosby Show is awkward because of Bill Cosby's poor life choices. Before that stuff started to bubble out into the public, it was one of the all-time greats. Now it seems like we'd rather shove it under the carpet and not give it any credit because of the way it would glorify a sexual predator.

I can't believe Thel was the only one to give All in the Family any love. Now THAT'S my favorite sitcom with The Honeymooners right behind. Of course Mash, Barney Miller, Married with Children etc. are all great.

Remember the Barney Miller episode where they all ate hash brownies?

So the new guy over here is going to start off with a bombshell. Not a big Seinfeld fan. Never got into it. Probably something wrong with me but I have to admit Seinfeld will not be in my top 10. Carol Burnett show would make the list but it is not really a sitcom.

Well I'd never call anyone an idiot for not liking a show! No matter how good I might think the show is...heck I usually like shows no one else likes anyways and always fall in love with shows that get canceled after the first season!
