Bit late to the party but here are some I liked growing up.

Boy Meets World
Simpsons (1-11 or so..)
Futurama (Up until beast with billion backs and some after that movie)
Married...With Children
Cheers
Saved By The Bell
Seinfeld (every now and then)
...kind of trailing off now, can't think of anything else that stands out.

Going back through the first season of Brooklyn Nine Nine. It is definitely going to be one of the greats, and I'm glad NBC picked it up for next season.

It's a good show indeed...but not a sitcom though. ;)

It's not filmed in front of a live audience.

If you hear laughter it's a sitcom if you don't it's a comedy.

I don't think this is correct.  I think all that is required is having the same set of characters for each episode.

Well to me that is correct. To me it's only a sitcom if it is filmed in front of a live audience. I'm picky that way... ;)

My two pence worth.

A sitcom or "Situation Comedy" does not require a studio audience (quite often if you hear laughter it's added later anyway!). The definition as far as I'm concerned is that the series is set in a small number of locations with the same principal cast and the show lasts 20-30 minutes.

Well I've always made the distinction between Comedy shows and SitComs based on the live studio audience...

Comedy shows can have sitcom elements but without the audience it's not an actual sitcom. I've always found it a rather easy way to separate the two.
