I'd like to see them open for a certain band from the 70s...

First Slayer, then Slade. :smug:

Slayer gets hate on here? They’re one of the heaviest of the Thrash bands that have never sold out.

Well hate is a strong word....and from what we have now learned on the "Best albums of..." polls there are quite a few Slayer fans here...more fans than not fans I would say!

Yes it looks that way, unfortunately that’s one of the bands I messed up on that I meant to click.

The opening poster is a little misinformed. Slayer ain't hated on here at all. There is quite a mixed aged group on here and a few that are a product of the 70's, they grew up loving the 70's bands and aren't the thrash or Slayer type of listeners, which is fair enough. They ain't everyone's cup of tea.

I can understand that, I get into all kinds of music, just not too much music of today.

What a machine they were. The Christ Illusion tour was probably the last truly great tour they did together. They still had so much energy back then, particularly Tom who's a shadow of his former self these days.

They set the bar for consistency in live performance over their career

They are a juggernaut of power, one of the most remarkable of the Thrash Metal bands. Certainly in a league of their own.

Very cool pics from the last ever SLAYER show:

https://loudwire.com/photos-slayer-final-show/?utm_source=sailthru&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=newsletter_5288477

This does mark an end of an era really in thrash and heavy metal in general.

Slayer were one of a kind. Doesn't matter if you liked them or not that's a fact that cannot be disputed.

I'm hoping they might do an album some day but I don't know...I doubt that too.

Kerry will go on making music though so I am looking forward to what he comes up with next...and now that I got into Exodus I'm looking forward to what Gary Holt comes up with them as well..

World goes on but it'll be bit less without Slayer kicking ass on stage.

Touring is hard, hard, hard... I think they can record again, maybe take the stage here and there, but asking people over a certain age to spend 100% of their lives on the road is a prison sentence of sorts.

But here's to them, able to hold out as long as they did!
