I never understood the bad flack these above two albums get, or Seventh Star or the Martin era albums for that matter.

All a matter of taste, really. There's quite a bit of good stuff in the Martin era, especially The Eternal Idol.

The more original members are absent, the less it sounds like Black Sabbath.

I haven't listened to any Sabbath in quite a while. But douse the torches and lay down the pitchforks, I listened to a song today. It came on the radio while I was driving: Turn Up the Night.

It has never been one of my favorites, and the last time I listened to it, actually listened to it, was probably when the record came out. I remained unimpressed after my listen today, but that is by the scale I use to measure Black Sabbath music. It's a pretty high bar.

Listening to that song did accomplish one thing: I now have a Sabbath jones going on that I'll deal with over the weekend. I foresee a complete, chronological catalog sauree starting on Saturday morning and running in fits and spurts until I finish The End.

Oh, and for as much as Turn Up the Night doesn't do anything for me, it still rocks!

I agree, yes songs like The Shining, Ancient Warrior, Glory Ride, the Ray Gillen sessions of the same album are even better.

That is true, it doesn't sound like the Ozzy era or Dio era, but nonetheless still good.

Will that be all the eras in chronological order? That's a feat!

Yes sir! Spun Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of Reality, and Volume 4 today. Tomorrow will start with Sabotage.

I'm loving listening to this music with somewhat fresh ears. Their music stands the test of time!

I've heard the odd Sabbath song here and there by way of the radio. But they have been out of my rotation for a while. Maybe a year?
