Rush getting 3rd is way better than I had hoped! But I really think Ozzy needs to win this now.

Note for the next game, if people think these games are taking to long to resolve I think a good compromise would be to have 16 albums starting with 16 points each. It's only 4 less but I think it would have big effect on the length of the game.

Or... I had this idea earlier today...

We get the list of 20 and then we have a round where a person can assign a strike to three albums that he thinks simply should not be there, at all. Each strike takes 6 points away from an album. Three strikes, and it's down to 2 points, ready to be picked off in the heal/hurt round.

I also think we should have a Bandcamp-only game where we only nominate our favorite obscure heroes of that music site.

What's Bandcamp?

I think your first choice might be a little extreme, and doesn't give the nominee a chance to defend their choice.

What's Bandcamp?

It's this site where bands can promote, publish and sell their music independently.

1. Ozzy Osbourne - Diary Of A Madman - 9
2. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden - 5

I love the first three songs on IM, but the rest are just alright. Diary only has one clunker ("Little Dolls"), and the rest is pretty  damn epic.

Hey, let's try a non metal version of heal/hurt, these results seem sorta like foregone conclusions, don't they?

1. Ozzy Osbourne - Diary Of A Madman - 7
2. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden - 6

I wore out the grooves on my copy of DoaM when it came out. But I've always been partial to a punk aesthetic and Iron Maiden's first two have that certain something.

Sicko's idea is solid - we could have genre/label-specific games (blues, disco, stax/volt, etc).

Vyn seconds Sicko's idea, I'll carry it with my support. So what genre is next?

Also, Ozzy > Maiden in this case.

1. Ozzy Osbourne - Diary Of A Madman - 8
2. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden - 4

I think it would be better if we do an era.like 60's, 70's or 80's and exclude metal rather than be genre specific like R&B or Disco etc.

What is Metal and what isn't? What about one that's specifically Metal (no doubt about it), and one that's just a general one, with a "Metal" (or atleast very hard rock) album thrown in here and there. Not necesserally Napalm Death or Cradle Of Filth, but atleast up till nwobhm type stuff.

I think having too genre or era specific games will limit/warp the "classic albums" list we're collecting.

Maybe what we should do is nominate what we consider to be a damn good album, but not necessarily one we'd vote for 100% of the time, no matter what. For example, I was pleasantly surprised by Procol Harum's Home and I'm glad it was nominated, or I'd have missed that album.

Going back to my strike idea... what if we just asked if the album was one that looked like it was out of the league of the other suggestions? At the same time, if the first album suggested is, say, Ozzy's Blizzard of Ozz, it's incumbent upon everyone else to suggest albums on par with that platter and maybe cut off nominations early so we can get to the knife fight without having an undercard of bands we know are going to lose.

Why not just keep it simple? Less points and nominees, or divided into just "Metal" and "general". I don't see the need to make such an elaborate ordeal out of it...

If someone wants to nominate an album with slim chances of winning, that's their gamble. You might've wasted a nomination, or you might be pleasantly surprised.

A bandcamp game could be cool for those who use that...
