Seems an odd pairing to me... You'd think Priest would come on after DP not only because they're a bigger & better live band today but to avoid what happened with the Alice Cooper/Deep Purple co-headlining tour of last year when half the audience was leaving after Alice's set.

Yeah... DP is not as big in the USA as Priest... and I thought their 2017 tour was the farewell one?

Maybe that's why their last album was "Infinite..."

The last US tour was a farewell to their exclusive DP fans. This tour is a farewell to the Judas Priest loving Deep Purple fans :P

Isn't this supposed to be the Long GoodBye Tour? So it'll take as long as it'll take.

But damn...I would go see this in a heart beat...eventhough Priest isn't what it used to be...

Both bands aren't but Priest are still a darn sight better than DP are these days. I'd go in a heartbeat as well Deep Purple coming on after Priest would be the opposite to a crescendo like it was for the Alice/Purple tour.

Actually, that'd be a great co-headine tour. Priest/Alice  :beerbang:

I don't know....Priest has lost some of their flow now with Glenn gone...Andy's a good guitarist but he plays without emotion...

But with Purple there's so much emotion and flow in everything they still do...they are still the ultimate jam band.

And about Alice...he still rocks like crazy though...and he's got a killer band too.

Alice and band is still killing it.

I last saw DP live in 2013 and tbh it was a bit of a snooze fest and Gillan obviously ain't half the singer he once was. Probably doesn't help that I saw them in 84 on the MK2 reunion tour and is still one of the most memorable gigs I've been to. Besides that I've never been a fan of Morse's take on Blackmore...Always felt he was the wrong choice for that band.

Ah...understandable then if you don't like Morse. I find Morse great and a perfect fit for the band. He was different enough from Ritchie to help the band carry on.

Same here, I enjoy Morse's work. And if it's a long goodbye, are they going to stretch it out, "Like a Cagney death scene"?

So this JP/DP co-headlining tour has wrapped up
Had been following this tour on another forum and FB and as successful as it seemed to be the general consensus was that DP was a total buzzkill coming on after Priest and quite a few people were leaving during Purple's set. I wonder why Purple would wanna follow Priest at this stage of their career? Or how the decision came about? Was it just a case of seniority? Same thing happened when they co-headlined with Alice Cooper.

Well the bands have nothing to do with the billing. That's decided by the promotor an the tour organizers.

With these dual headline tour I've always pondered why not have rotating turns on who ends the show. That would be fair for both sides plus it would give some variety.

I think it's more the bands who decide who goes on first and last. Bands have always bickered about who should follow who, it's nothing new, not that these two bickered. Purple's management would've probably stipulated they go on last and Priest would've been comfortable in the fact that the majority of attendees were there to see them anyway and they're a hard act to follow no matter who follows them.

I remember a couple of years ago their was a co-headlining tour, I think it was Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age and they couldn't come to an agreement on who should go on last and in the end they decided to toss a coin each night to decide who would come on last.

Well I can't say that is the case on EVERY co-headline tour but on MOST it is decided by the promotor. Can't say if that has been the case here but I'm assuming so. Ofcourse that also depends a lot on the promotor as well.

I think the things has been pretty even...some of the crowd has skipped Priest because they were there to see Purple and vice versa. Purple and Priest are a bit of an odd pair really since they don't really attract the same crowd.

But it seemed to have been quite succesful tour from what I've seen and that's all that matters...
