It's another reason why I've enjoyed the new Deep Purple albums so immensly as they were done 100% jamming so they have that very organic and kind of live feel to them....

Just saw this today.

Ozzy Osbourne, the former front man for the rock group Black Sabbath, is expected to undergo a “major operation on Monday” that could determine how the 73-year-old rocker spends the rest of his days.  That’s according to his wife, Sharon Osbourne, who commented on her husband’s scheduled medical procedure during a recent appearance on her UK chat show Talk TV.

“He has a major operation on Monday, and I have to be there,” she said during a panel discussion. “It’s really going to determine the rest of his life.”  While she didn’t specify what type of surgery Ozzy will be having, Fox News noted that he has had neck problems for nearly two decades following a quad biking accident.

“I’m just waiting on some more surgery on my neck,” he told Classic Rock magazine last month. “I can’t walk properly these days. I have physical therapy every morning. I am somewhat better, but nowhere near as much as I want to be to go back on the road.”

He also had a rather optimistic outlook on the future while acknowledging that we all have to go at some point.

“At f—ing 73, I’ve done pretty well,” Ozzy said. “I don’t plan on going anywhere, but my time’s going to come.”

I do ponder how long can they tangle this whole tour thing around? I mean it's pretty damn clear Ozzy can never preform again so it's bit questionable to still have those tours in the books...

Last report says Ozzy is home and recuperating.  I don't know what the surgery was for.

It was to remove some of the pins in his neck and back and adding some new ones. Mainly to correct his mis-aligned spine.

I have a friend who is recovering from a severe car accident, he's going through much the same thing in his recuperation. It's heartbreaking to see what survivors have to go through.

Yeah...and I'm assuming these issues with Ozzy go back to his ATV accident several years ago...and that fall he took in his house few years ago.

But yeah he's got a long recovery ahead regardless...which is why I think he should just be the bigger man and call it quits with that tour...now he is just stringing his fans along which ain't nice...at all.

Absolutely, he should give up any pretence of ever doing an extensive tour again. Once he's back as good as they hope for I think he should consider doing a couple of farewell shows, perhaps 1 or 2 and the US and 1 in Birmingham... and then call it quits.

Ozzy is an entertainer that lives for the stage. It’s what he loves to do. It truly would be having a devastating affect on him not being able to perform these last few years or if he isn’t able to perform ever again. Having these shows booked would at least be giving him some hope.

He should bow out whenever the fuck he wants to bow out and on his terms.

Yeah, he's had a rough go of it these past few years. I'm sure he's getting the best medical care known to man and hopefully soon he'll be experiencing some relief from those issues.

Having seen the bass player of The Sweet on stage in a folding chair with an oxygen tube around his nose, I dunno... That was a guy who needed to lay down for a while.
