Best episode yet of TBOBF
: show
or I should say the Mandalorian
That’s 2/3 hit/miss ratio for me.

I have been watching this for the past couple of weeks and with the death of Howard Hesseman recently it makes me appreciate the show even more.

This is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, in my opinion.

Oh yes indeed. THE best punchline, ever:

Been watching Pam & Tommy on Disney plus and it’s surprisingly very entertaining. Was thinking how much story can they actually get out of the sex tape saga but it’s very well written and funny enough with great performances to keep you engaged. In particular Sebastian Stan absolutely nails Tommy Lee as does Lily James playing Pam. Seth Rogen is great also. There’s a few scenes that make you literally say WTF out loud. Good entertaining watch.

Mmmmm! Lily James slurp!

Sorry, I just drifted off there for a moment.

I know of the Pam and Tommy thing, I hadn't realised it was out already. Put it my watch list!

Who knew Disney, of all studios, would cover the Pam & Tommy Lee story...

You're not wrong, especially when you see some of the scenes.

It’s like “Wow is this actually Disney”?

Just started watching the new Amazon Prime show REACHER.

Season 1 is based on the very first Reacher book Killing Floor by Lee Child.

Alan Ritchson stars as Jack Reacher and he does a hell of a job. And he is a big dude, like the Reacher in the books...unlike the midget version that was played by that one guy in the movies.

There's quite a bit going on story wise and it unfolds rather slowly but there's enough action and some light banter to keep it going.

I'm only two episodes in but I have to say I'm loving it. Willa Fitzgerald is great as Officer Conklin who becomes one of Reacher's closest allies and Malcom Goodwin (from Breakout Kings) is great as a relentless detective on the case in which Reacher has a more personal interest in solving.

There's a good ammount of humor but the wow factor comes from the rather brutal and realistic fight scenes. Not as graphic as lets say on Banshee but still rather pleasantly violent if one can say that. There's a certain hands on realism in the fights and big part of it comes from Ritchson wanting to do all of it himself.

All in all this is a great show...too bad there's only 8 episodes so I'll be done with it this week...but luckily there's already an order for a second season.

Some of the scenery and visuals are actually pretty good for what I guess is a low budget production.

The film itself is typical RE fair... virus outbreak in airport... blah blah.. rescue of dodgy senator...blah blah... all seems to lead to a hi-tech research facility... blah blah.. sectret dealings... blah blah... big battle against mutant etc.

It's enjoyable enough, better than several of the live action films 7/10. Now looking forward to the imminent release on DVD of Resident Evil: Vendetta.

EDIT: One thing I should add, the way the CGI is done it does make it look like you're watching someone playing a video game.

Quote 2

Just quoting myself here as I've just watched Resident Evil: Vendetta, which uses very similar technology to the earlier Degeneration film... i.e. animation using motion capture.

This time the plot involves an arms dealer with a grudge who has access to the virus and the race to stop him from releasing the virus and develop a vaccine. It's okay, the graphics are slightly more refined than the earlier film, but that doesn't make up for a slightly predicatble plot and weak villain. 6/10

Quote 3

Just posting a message I placed on BSO last September, so that I don't have to repeat myself! :)

I've just watched the 2nd of the Resident Evil animations Resident Evil: Damnation (2012), and much like the two mentioned above it is a motion-captured animation, and the visuals are as good as the other two.

The plot involves Leon S Kennedy infiltrating an imaginary Eastern European country torn with civil war. The resistence are fighting the government and both sides seem to have access to B.O.Ws (zombies/monsters!). The plot is probably the weakest of the three films but the atmosphere is good, and some of the set-peices are nice. 6/10

So this weekend I watched Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness (2021) on rental (I hadn't realised it was on Netflix and that it is a 4-part TV series rather than a feature film). As with the films quoted above it is an animation using motion capture.

Principle characters are Leon S Kennedy and Claire Redfield who are investigating the suicides of the members of a crack black ops unit after action in fictional war-torn African country Panamstan. Does the US defence Secretary know more than he lets on, did the Chinese sink a US Submarine? Can an escalation in tensions be avoided?

It looks good, again character faces are still a little wooden even if their other  movement is fluid and realistic. Not a huge amount of zombie action in this one but the infected rats aboard the submarine will have some people climbing the walls!

Plot is quite weak if I'm honest, but it's a solid film for action set-peices so not a complete dissaster. 5.5/10

Started watching I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER on Amazon Prime.

The plot outline is about the same as in the movie but that's where the similarities end. The show is most certainly it's own identity.

It's bit too teeny for my liking and the characters are all quite abnoxious but I think that kind of fits the genre though. The first two kills were nice and brutal but then the others haven't been up to par at all...but I do like to ponder who the killer is and it's only 8 episodes so it's a nice short run.

I've got 2 episodes left.

I can safely say I prefer the movie by a country mile but the show's been entertaining enough to keep me interested.

Just started on Picard season 2. I'm hoping for plenty of John DeLancie in this series. A little suspicious about the premise that they have to go back to 2024 LA to make things better. Hoping it's to root out a Borg sleeper cell and not to do a crossover with Terminator or something nutty like that.

I'm not gonna start with Picard until all the episodes are up. I wanna watch them in a row.

Honestly the first season was a bit of a let down and it didn't really have the Star Trek vibe so I'm not setting my hopes too high with this one either.
