I agree there must be a better way of deciding it than that. Even in football the away goals are considered before extra time is played.
Not only that, cricket is decided on runs and wickets. If it comes down to not being able to seperate the teams on runs, surely if anything, it would then come down to who took the most wickets, not who hit the most boundarys. Seems an absurdity that New Zealand didn't actually lose the game but England was crowned World Cup champions.

That rule will change no doubt.

In other news, I'm getting into curling. Seriously. Chess on ice.

Position is critical in the game, and the "chess on ice" is how others do describe it. And I'm watching matches from the Curling World Cup of 2019 and having a blast, so...

 curling!

Curling is one of the most interesting winter sports ever....Actually I can safely say it is my favourite winter sport.

The talent needed to play that is insane.

There we go, someone who gets it!

I was watching the recent mixed team scramble match between Homan and Hasselborg last night... watching the strategy unfold was one thing, but then seeing how the skill of the players made that complicated math unfold was amazing stuff.

Looking forward to seeing stuff from the 2019-2020 season as it becomes available.

Getting the angles right on the shots is straight out of billiards, and the interaction with the brushing opens up possibilities that don't depend upon straight physics.

New season is getting underway, hoping TSN will put matches on YouTube soon after they happen...

We might have to get an Ashes thread going Kilo with the first test starting 1 week from today.

In other news England was bowled out for 85 in the first innings of their inaugural one off test match against test minnows Ireland   :whistling:

Ahh... you saw that score! I was hoping to skip over that one!!! I'll put it down to a post World Cup hangover... and knowing the England team it's probably a "genuine hangover"!

And yes an Ashes thread might be a good idea.

The news services over here haven't let that performance go through to the keeper, they've been all over it  ;)

According to skipper Joe Root they're using this test match to set the tone for the Ashes series  :smug:

That's right... in the first innings they batted like the expect the Aussies to bat!!

Normal service has been resumed in the second innings... 169-1 after 40 overs.

EDIT: Normal service has been suspended after collapsing to 248-8! Curran and Broad have rallied the innings and should pass 300!

^^They've built themselves a 180 run lead with one wicket in hand. They're still a chance to bowl Ireland out under 200 and win the game. Could be an exciting finish to that game.
