Live Evil vs Live At Hammersmith
« on: February 27, 2018, 07:04:22 AM »
Pretty simple thing here. Two classic Black Sabbath Live Albums battle out.

Live Evil ofcourse was the very first Black Sabbath live album but there was a lot of things going on behind the scenes with this one and as such it didn't really come out as great as it could (or perhaps should) have.

Back in 2006 Tony and Geezer got together with Vinny and Ronnie again and as a result Rhino released a very special Handmade limited edition live album called Live At Hammersmith (CD limited to 5000 and Vinyl limited to 3000 copies) which was originally captured in London during the new years shows of 1981/1982 and captured the band at its absolute finest.

To me this is a no brainer...Live At Hammersmith all the way. Not only is the preformance absolutely top notch but it also includes COUNTRY GIRL! Enough said.

Live at Hammersmith. Live Evil is good, but it is flawed.

Hartford is good as well. I love the proper 13 minute Heaven and Hell rather than the chopped up medley on Live Evil. Maybe the 2009 live show from Chile will be released one day, as the radio broadcast was so broken up by over-enthusiastic DJs.

Hammersmith for sure. Live Evil has a certain nostalgic cache for me, but for a top-quality representation of those guys tearing it up live, it's Hammersmith without a doubt.

South American audiences are also some of the best in the world, as well.

Hammersmith all the way. Live Evil is too polished.

I agree...also the fact that the audience is barely audible takes away some of the live magic. That one got over produced big time...sadly.
