What Was The Last Album You Bought?

^ CHoHW is definitely for completists. Not a live album that I'd recommend to a casual listener, like Made in Japan, Live at the Olympia, or Total Abandon.

I got it on Amazon for 7 dollars and change including shipping. I have not listened to it yet but I have noticed that it gets horrible reviews. Allmusic gave it one star out of five!!!

Yeah, for a DP show it really doesn't meet the marks the band set earlier (and later). Put it next to just about any show with Satriani that immediately followed and you've got night and day almost in terms of energy and enthusiasm.

When Ian Gillan introduces "Anya" with the phrase, "The seasons change", it's pretty much foreshadowing what's going to happen with Blackmore in the very near future. This is a band playing through a cold, hard winter, with Satriani their springtime and Purpendicular/Abandon a beautiful summer scene, compared to this.

Valley of the Sun's latest LP, "Old Gods"

I really enjoyed their two prior releases, Two Thousand Ten and The Sayings of the Seers. Got this on pre-order based on the strength of those two albums, and this delivers on that promise.

Back in August I received word that a favorite band of mine, L7, was going to produce a new album, and were selling memorabilia to raise funding.  I purchased the following package:

L7 Film Bundle with CD

◦ The New Album on CD
◦ Your Name in the Album Credits

This week I was told that the new album is in the editing stage and is to be released in February 2019.  I'm kind of excited about this , especially because of my name to appear in the album credits. 

Turns out my purchase is in jeopardy.  I was just sent an update from the L7 band about a crisis going on at PledgeMusic. 

Have just received, in the mail, 2 of the 4 parts of my L7 Film Bundle, which was in jeopardy.  The new album on CD, with my name in the album credits.  No hat or blue ray, but at least I am getting something for my money.

I just got some new stuff for my Symphonic Metal collection. Another new discovery for me VISIONS OF ATLANTIS! Saw them live at Tuska and they were brilliant!
There was a sale going on at the Napalm webstore so these 2 albums and EP cost only 15€...a bargain!




Granted the line up has changed a lot since these days but I'm still excited to hear this stuff!

Made a big haul of Stax and Motown anthologies, since we're adding that era to the music my mom and I play on our Saturday morning radio show. It's been mostly 1949-1963 "Golden Age of Rock and Roll" tunes, but we started to get more requests for 60s soul, so I'm taking up the torch for those tunes. Hard to pick a favorite from those groups, they're all outstanding... Otis Redding, The Supremes, Gladys Knight, Edwin Starr, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, Marvin Gaye...
