That's a solid collection, even if it has the single edits instead of album cuts for the psychedelic funk stuff.

Speaking of funk...

I really love the Temptations, my mother would listen to them constantly. The only album I had previously is the first Greatest Hits, that came out in 66 or 68!!??? So with this comp I am able to hear their later material.
I love their Funk songs, so fine!!

I almost bought their album with the full version of "Papa Was a Rolling Stone", but couldn't get past the opening track on it. For their part, the group did not want to record that song because of its heavy use of the N-word in a negative way.

So I sated my need for funk with the first 4 O'Jays albums and Sly Stone's There's a Riot Goin On, Fresh, and High on You. Life and A Whole New Thing are also really good, but not as deep in their funk as those three albums.

I'd also recommend Isley Brothers' 3+3 era as some stone cold solid funk, up to around their Go For Your Guns album.

Picked up a mint original Japanese pressing of Heaven and Hell from a record shop today. $55 was a good price for it so couldn't resist.

^^^^^^
???  If you didn't specifically order this, why would a record shop in Australia have this to begin with?

Good question. Since the resurgence of vinyl and it becoming more in demand hence more expensive a lot of record store owners(in particular from Australia) are travelling to Japan and buying up big. The Japanese are renowned for keeping their vintage vinyl in pristine condition and their is apparently so much over there at still affordable prices. Not just Japanese pressings either.
