The Crue - once a powerhouse of asphalt sleaze - is of late scooping up cash on the tour circuit. Which is a great thing! Perform live, get paid, fantastic!

They've been in the public's consciousness for ~45 years to one degree or another, and early on built a fan base that is loyal and not scared to exchange their hard-earned cash for a night of hard-rocking music. At this point, a lot of nostalgia, but that's not automatically a bad thing. Not everyone can be the Rolling Stones and crank out new music that is vibrant while remaining true to their sound.

There's the catch, though. Concepts like, "live, true, perform," should be a given on the concert stage. But in Motley Crue's case, the concepts are, "canned, false, choreographed."

That sucks. I'd rather stay home and listen to their records than go out, spend what is now stupid amounts of money, only to have an evening listening to a recording while the singer walks around on stage miming his part. They should bill themselves as, "The Motley Crue Experience," because although the people are (mostly) the same, they aren't playing music. Vince should just go sit down. Or put in the effort off-tour to get into shape both physically and vocally. That would show respect for their fans. But he hasn't done that, which indicates he doesn't have any respect for his fans. Only their money.

I quite agree with that.

Vince's vocal miming has been quite evident for a while now. Sure he sings live too but a lot of it is clearly backtaped.

I have always said that if I want to go see a band preform live I want them to actually preform LIVE....little mistakes and off key moments and what not are part of the live experience.

I've never been a huge Crue fan but I enjoy some of their stuff. Would I go see them live now...abso-fuckin-lutely NOT.

*Tribute bands* will play the music, and quite well for most of them. If you can't perform as well as your own tribute bands, it's over.

If recording labels used that as the actual scale by which they measure band performance (and thus whether the band continues to get paid or not), there'd be so much shitting that it would foul up an entire state's worth of fresh water systems.

Vince has never been a powerful singer especially live. That being said he sounds good on those first five albums
For me their last great album was Dr Feelgood
