What are you playing at the moment?

One of the most legendary and iconic games of all time is out again as a remastered edition and ofcourse I had to buy it right away!

I was playing this for hundreds upon hundreds of hours when I was a kid...one of THE greatest games of all time:

COMMAND & CONQUER RED ALERT!

And my god..the remastering looks great and the nostalgia is there right away...I just travelled back in time for 25 years....I am in love...AGAIN!

I'm looking at that in Steam... gotta know, how does it play? Does it feel like the first time or is the hype just a bunch of head games?

The gameplay is just as it was back then! I can't really remember all the controls but the ones that I DID remember work exactly the same way.

To me atleast it's just like it was back when I first bought it all those years ago....and the music...my gooooooooooooood the music! HELL MARCH BABY!!!

I got some great C&C stories... I was working at Microsoft, supporting Windows 95 in late '95 up to the summer of '96. We were all temps and we all had to do weekend support. Call volume was low, so we were kinda allowed to play games while managers looked the other way. Our work PCs were dogs, but our PCs for replicating customer issues were all awesome rigs for the day - actual P100s with CD-ROM drives! DUDE!

With a quickness, we were getting C&C and loading it on the "breakme" PC. If we had to take a call, we had to forfeit the game. The Law of the Jungle. But volumes were low, so we could get a good conclusion to just about any 4x4 pick-up game. Best part was how GDI and Nod catered to different strategies. I like to build tall, so I favored GDI. If I had a good start, I had TONS of guard towers to shred any bike rush coming at me. If not, well, that's the problem of not having a good start, isn't it?

After that job, I got Warcraft II, another awesome classic of the mid-90s. Had another job with lots of down time and monitors not immediately visible from the doorway, so, yeah, we played that one, too. Good times.

Once I got out of temp jobs and was a proper full-time employee, I stopped playing games at work... but C&C has a warm spot for me. I'm adding it to my wishlist on Steam.

Helping my nephew play Stardew Valley. He does the clicking, I do the wiki reading, good times.

Age Of Empires was never among my favourites...but then again I didn't play it all that much either(had I played more I think my opinion would be different now) but Warcraft II...man...that got a lot of hours before C&C.

I never got to play multiplayer with C&C or Red Alert but I did enjoy building my own maps in RA and playing the skrismish maps just as much as I enjoyed playing the campaign...so that game lasted a long time for me even after I had already completed the campaign portion.

$1.48 on GOG, then I run it under Exult for a bigger screen and better resolution.

I recently gotten into playing Neo Geo games. Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, Windjamers. This system was expensive as hell back then.

Doing lots of C:S and uploading videos for them.

In between, I keep starting EU4 games and getting pissed off at the stupid AI or how the current "National Goals" system pretty much forces a wide strategy instead of a tall one. So that's probably going to make me go back to Vicky 2, which rewards tall playing pretty regularly, once you're wide enough to be a Great Power.
