2026 Albums

[Charger]

I think it's a really strong album. Agreed it's not 1987 anymore, but then again nothing is....the band has evolved and the sound has evolved.

I think I'll put it on the top half right on top of Metal Church.

The top 4 is a pretty damn tight group...In fact they could all pretty much tie for first place.

CP is below that level though....it is. There isn't a one super fantastic song on it...And gotta say...out of all these I think KREATOR has stayed the most true to their thrash metal roots.

I think Anthrax and MC are pretty much the same quality level and BLS is a clear step below and SVM is another step below...it's not a bad album, but frankly after the stellar debut I had my hopes on a much higher level...and the fact that they aren't really a band anymore but just a two piece and some computer stuff isn't quite what I had invisioned.

And it doesn't end here will still have the new IOMMI album and the new DOWN album coming....both of which are more than capable of charging to the top.

1. Deep Purple - SPLAT!
2. Rob Zombie - The Great Satan (absolute banger this one!!)
3. Megadeth
4. Kreator - Krushers Of The World (Surprised by this one, killer old school thrash metal! Need to get more into this band for sure! And they also have a Finnish guitarist!!)
5. Anthrax - Cursum Perficio
6. Metal Church - Dead To Rights
7. Black Label Society - Engines Of Demolition
8. Sky Valley Mistress - Luna Mausoleum

The Schizophonics' latest is some great throwback MC5 protopunk work, with manic guitar and vocals presenting a convincing soundscape. The band is a bit slow on the first few tracks, but they get some bangers in on the last part of the album. They falter with "Knock It Down" with some strange synth horns or whatever that just irritate me. But the rest of the album is great stuff, slotting it in at #9 on my chart.

SAVATAGE singer ZAK STEVENS' side project ARCHON ANGEL has also announced a new album coming out in December!!

Here's a first taster

Pretty good...it's got a lot going on in just 4 minutes.

I don't normally go for the symphonic metal, but that track was REALLY well done.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as call this symphonic metal, but it is a step more to that direction than Savatage is that's for sure.

John Carpenter's Cathedral is pretty damn good!

Listening to it now.

If you've seen Carpenter's movies you know pretty much what to expect. Although this is more guitar driven than some of his scores.

He even wrote a story to go along with the music. And he says the story was based on a dream he saw back in 2024.

This is a fully instrumental album.

EDIT:

After listening to both this and From The Dark once I might even go as far as say the 78 year old Carpenter beat the 78 year old Tony Iommi!
