Well Fusion is a possiblity still...cold fusion maybe not but fusion reactors are being tested constantly.

And maybe MAYBE if we do discover dark energy and most importantly find a way to harness it who knows...that could be a limitless source of power...but that's far away in the future unless we get some help from someone who have already mastered it...

As I understand it, the biggest problem with fusion is in both containing the reaction and in getting energy from it without destroying the conveyor of the energy.

It's like, you get infinite power if you touch the sun, but you first have to survive touching the sun...
