I am ashamed to admit it, but I did not know there was such a thing as, "Canada Day." My wife and I are friends with a few couples out of Nova Scotia and have been for decades, I mentioned this to my wife and she called (or texted, whatever) one of them and their response was along the lines of, "oh, yeah, Canada Day. It's a thing." But it was said with the same tone as someone discussing diarrhea would have.

Maybe that specific couple had some kind of trauma they are working through, and my wife's query opened old wounds and caused them to experience the pain all over again.

Or not - who really knows what time it is anymore?
