I was expecting them to be working on a new album with Simon but this came about bit faster than I thought!

Oh boy, this is exciting. PLEASE be a good one for this year! Bob Ezrin is producing, so I take that as a good sign.

I already went for the Limited Edition Boxset! Sucks that it didn't have the picture vinyl but I'll get that elsewhere then! 115€ with postage but it'll be their last ever album most likely so why not spend a bit on it!

My conclusion is that Ian Gillan is a folk singer that prefers a hard-rock/metal/hard-prog backing band. Once Deep Purple decided to just be a great band and not necessarily a commercial success in the USA after Blackmore was done with the whole reunion thing, Gillan's influence came through in songs basically about anything other than the stuff that would crack the USA Billboard charts.

This one's got a strong "Pictures of Home" feel to it, but not at such a frenetic pace. Good solo from the new kid on guitar.

Indeed! I'm smelling the Pictures Of Home-feel as well here! Been quite enjoying this tune! Maybe not as great as All I Got Is You but still a very good song!

Looking for non album tracks, I come across this one, which although not yet *technically* on an album, will be very soon. 

Having just listened to Ian Hunter's latest album, I am really happy with Gillan's songcrafting and that it gets to ride on top of a heavier track with a quicker tempo. It doesn't sound like everything they've already done, neatly avoiding the pitfall that plagues Iron Maiden's and Judas Priest's latest releases. Properly progressive with the bit at the end, didn't expect that but found it lovely - reminds me of Uriah Heep's latest in a good way.

So... Ian Hunter meets Uriah Heep as a way of describing this track? Sure thing. It works and it's a lovely tune.

Great track! Happy sounding! Which is nice as most of Whoosh was maybe bit sad sounding.

That outro bit is great! Simon sounds just like Steve there!

Pretty groovy tune! I like more than Pictures Of You! This is shaping out to be a heck of an album me thinks!

My Internet was out yesterday, so this is a fun one to wake up to here in the USA on a holiday.

Blues-based hard rock is alive and well and living in Deep Purple in 2024. And was it just me or did Big Ian give us the face in there?

So the album's out and it made it to the charts right away...reaching #1 in digital charts in several countries... very very cool.

I just listened to it, immediately after downloading. Bought it with just the strength of the singles to guide me.

SPOILER ALERT: This is one solid album. Top-shelf heavy rock from Deep Purple, no question about it. Less proggy than Whooosh!, I'd say it's in the vein of Now What?! for recent releases and would compare well to Purpendicular, In Rock, and Machine Head.

I'm about half way through the album and I haven't spotted a song I don't like yet!

Holy shit!

I loved Steve Morse and I also liked Whoosh but it got maybe bit too proggy for my tastes at times...Simon has brought the hard back into Purple's Rock! Some killer riffs here and he plays incredibly well with Don Airey here.

Ian's vocals are incredible for man who's closer to 80 than 70!

This might very well be the best Purple album since Abandon!
