Covers with the band members on are weak to start with, but when the image is distorted.... yuck!

I'll say today that any cover depicting naked children is one I want to cover with something else or flip over. Houses of the Holy, Blind Faith, and others I really don't need to be looking at, given that I only have this lifetime to look at stuff. Likewise, once you learn there's a hidden bodily orifice somewhere in the album art, that's it, I can't see anything else but that, I'm done with it. I won't be posting any of that stuff in my worst covers list, but they're definitely entrants on that chart.

So, keeping it light, I'll put forward my entry for to-day:



Speaking of lazy, this is the cover of not one, but SIX Phil Collins album covers. Basically, Phil's going, "here's me face!" and bang, we got us an album cover! Zero imagination. Now, it's a bit of clever that he re-shot the covers for 2016 remaster reissues, but having old Phil Collins is not much more imaginative than young Phil Collins. Is what it is, I guess...

Agree with Z regarding some of those album covers - naked kids are simply automatically bad. Same with someone's asshole (Type O Negative, come on, wtf was that). I'll throw in there anything depicting actual gore images (Mayhem...).

That Stranglers cover KDC posted, yeah - it makes me think nobody knew what to do so they just twiddled some graphics knobs and deemed it worthy.

Similar to this offering - the general idea isn't bad, but the execution falls flat. You know the designers even thought it sucked, because rather than having the title just printed normally, they did that perspective thing with the text. I can imagine the convo:

A: "This is boring as shit, they don't look to be in love so much as too drunk to stand up"
B: "Yeah, but what if we made the title look like it was coming at the viewer"
A: "Oh hell yes!"

To be brutally honest I have never felt that AC/DC have ever made an effort with their covers... but this one is just awful! Yes it has an obituary feel to it which might fit in with the recent death of Bon... but still!

Priest's post reunion artworks have been horrible one after another...with the slight exception of Nostradamus...but this one is hands down the worst.
Putting Rob's face on the body of that thingy is just....god I don't even know what...It's either they tried to make peace with Rob by putting his face on the album cover OR Rob's Ego is size of a rather large planetary object and he insisted on having his face on the cover or he wouldn't return...who knows...but regardless the end result is an embarrassment!

One of my cousin's had that apple pie record when I was growing up. I was always impressed with the big speaker stack next to the stove. Never occurred to me about the vag-pie until years later when I read about it.

And I actually have a verified real, non-counterfeit copy of that Motorhead album. It is indeed repulsive.

I know it supposed to be a grave but come on...it's pretty clear what it is...and it's indeed HORRIBLE!

Metallica sure has had a long lasting run of dreadful covers...Actually I think Masters Of Puppets is the only good one...and even that looks like it was done by an 8 year old...Okay Ride is pretty good too...but that's it. I think actually Metallica is probably the most consistantly bad cover art band in the world. Either they don't give a rats ass or they're actively looking for horrible artists....
