I know this might be difficult for some of you because you have such large collections, but: Who do you have the complete collection of studio albums for? I stuck with studio albums as if we included Live/Compilations then it gets a bit messy and I probably don't have any complete sets at that point!" ;)

So I have a few, but I have limited myself to those bands who have release 5 or more albums:

Black Sabbath
Rush
New Model Army
The Damned
Iron Maiden
Metallica
DIO
Iced Earth (surprisingly, I thought I was missing a couple of early albums!)
Led Zeppelin
The Macc Lads

Near misses:

JG Thirlwell
Motorhead
Marillion
The Stranglers

Quite a few bands indeed...

Black Sabbath (Dio-era albums I have several copies)
DIO
Judas Priest
Megadeth
Savatage
Cathedral
Rob Zombie
Blaze Bayley
Benedictum
Iron Maiden
Wolfsbane
A Sound Of Thunder
Lullacry
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Avatarium
Melanie C
Down
Jon Oliva's Pain
Circle II Circle
Lucifer

I've included bands that have released 4 or more albums as there are couple of amazing bands that have 4 album only and it would have been a travesty to leave them out...Benedictum, JOP and YYYs top that list...One might argue that Down only released 3 albums but their two EP can count as 1 full album.

Deep Purple, Anthrax, Metallica, Iced Earth, Ozzy, Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Ian Gillan and Hammerfall are near complete...Purple and Anthrax are complete with their top singer and I have very little interest in adding stuff from the b-singers,  IE I'm missing the last 2, Metallica I'm missing 2, Ozzy post Black Rain (and have no plans what so ever to ever own those turds either), Solitude is a hard one to find these days anymore so I'm missing the debut....Candlemass I'm missing the s/t and Tales of Creation both of those being very weak...
BLS I'm missing the debut and the latest one both of which I need to get at some point...Stronger Than Death is hard to find though...

EDIT:
Blaze Bayley, Savatage and DIO are the only one's I have all the live albums too I think...and then ofcourse there are few bands that haven't released any live albums at all (or only one which even if I do have I'm not gonna bother listing)

I will tip my hat to whoever has all of Deep Purple's live albums...I think there are more than 20 out there that are atleast somewhat official and probably 50 or so that aren't official.
Maiden has pretty much released a live album after every single tour since the reunion which I haven't bothered with as the sets have been pretty much the same old same old (or too heavy with the shit album+same old same old)

There are 2 Megadeth live albums that I wish I'd own, Rude Awakening and That One Night, both of which are now discontinued and extremely hard to find...both of those albums feature absolutely SUBERB setlists!

100% on my Deep Purple studio albums... and I'm darn close to having all official live releases... but I'm tired, I don't need another version of Highway Star (Live)...

Zeppelin is easy, as there are only 8 plus Coda, so check that box off.

Black Sabbath I own all the way up to Forbidden, but did not want to get the reunion albums, they just didn't do it for me.

There are other bands where I'm 100% on their pre-reunion releases, like Lynyrd Skynyrd, but I couldn't get into post-reunion stuff, so I'm not 100% overall.

Looking through things, I'm still at 100% for the following:
Deep Purple
Funkadelic
The Isley Brothers
Utopia
Rory Gallagher
Jimi Hendrix
Led Zeppelin
Lokomotiv GT
Mountain
Slade
Steely Dan
Armored Saint
Gillan
Skorpio
Wo Fat
Chris Joss
Miss Lava
Mos Generator
Vuelveteloca
Los Dug-Dugs

Pre-reunion 100s:
Black Sabbath
Grand Funk
Bad Company
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Rainbow

Including digital music, a lot.

Restricted to vinyl (and off the top of my head):

Black Sabbath
Thin Lizzy
Pink Floyd
Talking Heads
Motorhead (although one disk is a counterfeit)

Maybe a few others.

I have a few that would be considered "every studio album they released" but they only released one record lol

Double checking mine, if I included groups who only released 4 albums then it only ups my total by 1:

Black Country Communion

I expected a long list from you Thel! You are the man to beat in this! ;D

And I also did think ZZZ's probably the closest to have those Purple live albums...

I do kick myself in the head for not getting those couple of boxset of live albums they put out some years ago from the last tour with Jon Lord...I do have some of them as bootlegs (that I got before those were officially released) but it's not the same...

Grand Funk Railroad

Made me go back and check... I actually *do* have all of GFR's studio works, as anything after 1984 was a live album.

I have no vinyl.   :squint:

Not really essential here to have vinyl. I have vinyl, but I have nothing to play them on!

:)  Okay then, I'll have to check my CDs.  Although I don't expect to have much of a list.  I tend to buy the music if I know I am going to like it, not to complete anything.

I've got those few bands that I really like so with them I tend to get the whole discog...even the bad albums...On bands that I'm not all that into but like some of the stuff I'm not bothered with complete discogs...

As far as vinyl goes I only have one band fully covered and that's Blaze Bayley....and all the Savatage reissue vinyls...so once they finish (by the end of the year) I'll have all of those as well.

That's how I am now. When I was younger, I had to have the complete collection for the sake of having the collection. I prefer now just buying what I like. Simpler life, that way.
