That's news to me I hadn't seen it announced anywhere. It's sad news for sure but as the article points out he had a history of ill health.

RIP Paul

RIP Paul - Around about 1993 I went into a record shop and bought a brand new copy of Helmet's new (at the time) record "Meantime". I got home with it, opened it up, and what did I find? no inner sleeve at all, and a vinyl disk of Paul Di'Anno's Battlezone. What the actual fuck. I took it back the next day, and was told they didn't believe my story, so I dropped the record in the trash can right there in the store, shrugged, and never went back to that place.

Hahah! That's quite the Paul DiAnno story! :D

I probably would have handled the situation rather similary considering I'm not a fan...

Yes, heard that this morning myself. Apparently he died from cancer at 65, too young, probably had a good few of music left in him.

RIP John

Saw about this yesterday. Honestly I did not know who he was...had to google. I have never been a fan of Thin Lizzy or Whitesnake so he had slipped under my radar.

Non the less too young to go. Apparently he was struggling with Cancer....damn that disease sucks!

Rick Buckler, the drummer with The Jam has passed away at the age of 69.

The Jam were a big part of my teenage years, my favourite group between about '78 and '80, They were sorta punky, sorta Who-like and given their genre/roots it's amazing to think they had 4 #1 singles!

A solid drummer he wasn't a Ward, Paice or Bonham but was perfect for the music he was playing. After The Jam split he sorta disappeared from the scene.

RIP Dave Johansen aka Buster Poindexter.

Two sides of the man, first with the glam-punk New York Dolls:

And then, later in his mellowed life, as a folk singer doing a tribute to his bass player, Killer Kane, who had passed away after getting the band together one last time:

Saw that...don't know anything about his music or the band at all...not my genre.

Also few days ago we lost the legendary actor GENE HACKMAN at the age of 95. What a long and prolific life he had. Countless great movies... The French Connection, The Unforgiven and one of my favourites Loose Cannons where he proved he could do comedy just as well as Dan Aykroyd and Dom DeLuise!

What a great actor he was...Might have look at watching something from him soon...

Knew about Hackman, had not caught the news about Johansen. His first solo album is iconic, which is saying something considering his pedigree with the Dolls. And Gene Hackman, what an actor that guy was!

Hackman, was indeed a great actor. I was late to the game with some of his performances... it's only in the last 5 years I saw The French Connection. I'll need to check out some of his other iconic roles.

Some mystery over the death of Hackman and his wife, I immediately thought Carbon Monoxide (or similar), but I see that's been ruled out.

Still being investigated according to the latest. Certainly is odd circumstances, him, his wife, and their dog. All dead, all in different rooms. Nothing in the air, maybe some really bad food they had and happened to share some with Fido? Maybe Fido died, Gene came in, saw him, it upset him and due to his advanced age it was too much and he died. Then wife comes in, finds the dog, then finds her husband, freaks out and overdoses on some pills?  Or any combination thereof. Weird.
