GET A GRIP REMIX VIDEO!!

Holy shit this sounds crisp and fresh! Quite a difference to the original! The guitar sound is vastly better than before!

Get A Grip was one of the better songs on the album. That is an improvement for sure, I am looking forward to hearing the rest of it.

Wow, what a significant difference for the better! They removed that ridiculous amount of echo on Martin's vox, and pulled it back into the mix just a tiny bit. I just listened to the original and it's crazy how it sounds like he is singing through a tube over a cassette recording of the instruments. They also "umuddified" those instruments and now the whole track sounds cohesive.

Yeah, "remastered" seems to be a magic word for Black Sabbath recordings.

I've listened in full to Forbidden Remix and Remaster... it's almost like a new album, the sound is heavy, crisp and clear and improves the album no end. I might have to reconsider my Sabbath album ranking!

Anno Domini...The Arrival!

As far as box sets go, and remasters in particular, this Anno Domini set is stellar. There isn't much in the way of accessories, but what did come with it is well done, high quality, and interesting. The album covers are thick and the printing is crisp. The disks themselves each share the same non-descript black labels and are the now ubiquitous 180g heavy-weight vinyl.

I've only listened to side one of Headless Cross so far, and it delivers the goods. "When Death Calls," really stands out. I am looking forward to listening to the rest!

Here's my tongue-in-cheek foray into the world of internet unboxing videos - in still-picture format!

A truck bearing the markings of Federal Express pulled into my driveway earlier today. I watched as the driver exited the truck, went around to the back, and retrieved a rolling cart, upon which was placed a large, red pillow (that had gold tassles). The driver then carefully sprinkled rose petals along a path to my front door. Returning to the cart, the driver then unfurled a small banner and then played a fanfare on a bugle.

Placing a medium-size box upon the red pillow, the driver carefully rolled said cart to my doorstep, whereupon the box was reverently laid. Scooping up the rose petals and placing all of the paraphenalia back into the truck, the driver hopped in and sped off in a cloud of burnt rubber.

I opened my front door, and there it was...a BOX!

Upon opening the box, I was greeted with...another box!

Intrigued, I couldn't help but wonder what could possibly be so important that it had to be contained in layers of boxes...or perhaps what was so god-awfully evil it had to be locked down within said boxes...thankfully it was the former supposition. The Martin-era Black Sabbath remasters!

After having whisked it away from the nasty environment of my garage and into the safety of my office, I turned the box over and was faced with THE BACK OF THE BOX!

After carefully removed the contents of the box, I found a giant poster. It's huge!

There's also a couple of booklets! Words and pictures 'n' shit!

One thing that caught my attention immediately was the difference between the covers of the new albums and the originals. Copyright notices, publishing credits, and so on will no doubt be changed, if they were printed on the original covers. But as far as the rest - it seems to me that maintaining an exact representation of the art and layout would not be a big deal.

For Tyr, it wasn't, because they are the same.

For the rest, they differ in various aspects. Herein, then, is a side-by side. The albums in the clear sleeves, on the left, are the originals. The other being the new Anno Domini remastered albums.

Headless Cross:

Cross Purposes:

Forbidden:

So...how long before we get a remaster of 13?

Very cool!

I like the subtle new changes to the art work of Cross Purposes!

I still haven't bought one myself...I do kick myself a bit for not getting it two weeks ago when it was on sale! But I'm getting some tax refunds on early July and that money is ear marked for a Sabbath boxset!

It is No.1 on the UK Rock and Metal Chart. It's not charted on the mainstream chart but I'm not sure Box Sets qualify.
