Renaissance Faire
« on: October 12, 2021, 04:51:43 PM »
At the King Richard's Faire yesterday, as we do every Columbus Day.  Here are a few shots.

We arrive about 45 minutes before the town gates open up.

10 minutes before the gate open, the King and his Court step out on the balcony (upper right of gate) and welcome one and all.

Here is one of the clothing shops that sells fine hand made attire.

The stage at the jousting field where the King and his Court well watch the jousting matches.

Here's a close up shot at one of the artist shops.  This guy makes things out of wood and then burns designs on them.  The top of those cribbage boards slide open revealing a compartment to keep decks of cards in.  I bought a wood clock for my game room.

One of the aerial performers.

Knights preparing for the joust.

If any of you guys ever attend a Renaissance Faire, I would like to see some pictures.

The Faire is in Carver, a good 30 something miles south of Boston.  I'm in Westport, which is less than 30 miles southwest of Carver.

I know there is one in nearly half of U.S. states, not sure about Canada.  If you can make it down here next Columbus Day, I can offer free room and board.   :)

Those faires look like a lot of fun.

Only thing that even comes close over here is we have (or should I say had before this covid nonsense) a Medieval Faire at the near by city of Turku. Been there couple of times...but it's not a costume fair though. Just some people representing their skills in medieval hand crafts and bakery and such. The shopkeepers are in full costume ofcourse but the visitors are not...It's basically just like a big open area market place with medieval stuff for sale.

I'd love to go to a full blown renaissance Faire...

Same here.  Two more weekends and it's done.
Do you know what yours is called and the name of the town it is in?

 I believe there is one in Michigan that would be closer to you than that.
