So here's a topic for all you fellow weight lifters and anyone who likes to work out or exercise in any way...
Post about your routines and schedules and what not here...
-
I like to do curls when I'm on the phone and go for walks during lunchtime.
-
I usually workout 5 days a week...with some exceptions. But that's the routine I try to keep especially during winter...
During summer I'll also incorporate some running to the mix....Usually 3 runs a week. Can't do it during winter though...because of the cold and especially because of the danger of slipping and falling and breaking my coccyx.
My current routine is
Monday:
Back and Shoulders
Tuesday:
Forearms and Biceps (Dumbbell)
Wednesday:
Rest day
Thursday:
Pecks and Triceps
Friday:
Legs
Saturday:
Biceps & Forearms 2 (Barbell, Curvebar)
Sunday:
Rest Day
During summer I usually add an hour of running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays...
I have a 4 week routine and 5th week is always rest. I tend to use pyramid, but not always.
-
For my left forearm i use a Varigrip to retain (or at the moment regain due to not being active for a while) the strenght of my fret hand. The right forearm gets it's natural exercise.
Other than that i'm a hiker/bicycle guy. Forrests and mountains, but it's far from downhill biking. And ofcourse only in the summer half of the year due to being in Norway. Have been thinking about picking up alpine skiing again this winter, but pre christmas there just wasn't enough snow, and the last month & a half have been too damn cold. Tried picking up snowboarding again too a couple of years ago, something my tailbone still isn't happy about, as i fell on the exact same place in the exact same way twice within a week.
-
Currently: getting out of bed, walking around some, driving in my car, getting into bed.
Although I've been cautiously getting back to the rowing machine. In about a month I should be good to go full-speed ahead with a new routine.

Cool...I can imagine it's pretty cool hiking and cycling over there...crazy awesome scenery. Not like this flat forrest/field shit we have here...
I used to cycle a lot too back in the day, but for what ever reason I stopped...haven't even been on a bicycle since the 90s... :O
I hate the cold too much to do any skiing anymore...not to mention that skies cost a small fortune here nowadays...

Oh yeah...Billy told me about your accident. Recovery phase can be a bitch. But gotta just take it slow and easy. Glad that you're okay though.

Here too. Not to mention ticket cards for the ski lifts. Another reason i haven't been doing it much lately.
I like cycling in flat forrest scenery too, though. Variation, and forrests are beautiful too, though not as much as the mountains.

I have been going to the gym fairly regularly for about 4 years. Lately, my routine consists of pecs, tris one day, back, biceps the next, shoulders/abs/neck the following, then one or two,(or three) days of rest. I know you shouldn't skip leg day, but my job as a music teacher works out my legs 5 days a week and takes care of cardio as well. My mental exercise routine consists of meditation, learning languages, playing chess, and watching physics lectures, mostly daily. The rest of my time consists of laying around, eating chips, lol

You know... reading this thread is good support for an exercise routine, since we're all talking about it, we're more likely to keep on doing it.

That is a great way of seeing it.
I have been working out for about 8 years now...not for body building or anything (the only part of my body that's gotten bigger is my stomach and that ain't muscle mass either) but just for fun.
I have a bit of a gym at home with dumbbells and barbells and a bench...I don't go to gyms. Mainly because I'd be laughed out of them. :D
Plus I get to listen to the music I like while working out and doing things in my own time.
Pretty good routine there Sicko! I have to confess that Legs is the one that I leave out too if something unexpected comes along and I gotta miss a day of workout.

I have a bench with weights, as well as a treadmill, in my basement. Figured that traveling to a gym was a waste of time and money. I do some mild weight lifting 3 to 4 times a week in the winter. A little less the rest of the year because of outside chores that have to be done. I try to walk the treadmill everyday for about 15 to 20 minutes. Can't do much more than this because of tendinitis in my right knee and damaged ligaments in my right shoulder, which I am sure was from playing too much tennis, as well as other sports for the first 40 years of my life.
I get plenty of mental exercise doing my job. but I love playing chess, cribbage and cards.
-
I've been going to the gym to work out on and off for the last 28 years. Currently it's off lol, but I've recently got back into boxing which I've also done on & off for 20 years or so. My brother runs a boxing gym and is a great trainer which is handy.
I also take my 14yo son who has recently got back into it after fracturing his thumb 10 months ago and then losing the motivation to go, and subsequently I stopped going as well. Recently one of his close mates who's an asthmatic was wanting to start boxing up which was the motivation he and I got to start going again.
I generally go on a health kick every once in awhile that normally last 6-12 months before the motivation runs out and I fall back into unhealthy habits. Having a holiday booked is always a great motivation for me to lose weight & get fit :headbanger:

When I was a young man Arnold Schwarzenegger and Franco Columbo were two of my biggest heroes. I started weightlifting in high school and was very dedicated and quite serious about it. I got to be a decent size for someone who was not using steroids. And I was very strong into my late 20s. Soon though I fell victim to a few major illnesses and have lost the ability to body build. I am on some pretty strong drugs, morphine being one of them and they really kill the motivation and my energy reserves.
Also I am sure that being on marijuana most of the day does not add to my workout capabilities.

The older I get, the better walking seems to me. :)

Sorry to hear about that buddy! But I do hope you exercise still otherways then...
I have been, I guess you can say, lucky not to have any big issues yet...the biggest one is my right knuckle which is pretty messed up and that does cause some problems and is in constant pain too which is why I eat codeine daily. But I haven't allowed it to stand in my way though... :)
-
Thanks Charg. Yeah I do go for long walks with my Ipod and my Sennheiser headphones so I do get some kind of exercise.
Sucks about your knuckle - I hope it heals up for you.

It sadly won't...been like this since 2002. Had two surgeries for it as well...it actually got bit worse after the second one due to one dumbass butcher of a surgeon.
For most of the time it doesn't really bother me and I've gotten used to the pain...but occationally it really affects my sleep, thus the pills.

Well my running season started couple of weeks ago again...
Just getting accustomed to it again....3 times a week...starting with 40 minutes....doing about 50 minutes now with some short breaks.
It's important to start slowly so you'll avoid runners knee... So far so good.

Well since they cut down the forest I usually ran in and raped it all to hell (my fuckin' cousin...did it in secret too cause he knew I'd object cause I run there plus it was a beautiful old forest....) I had no choice but to go and buy a treadmill...
I didn't go with the cheap ones but for the life of me couldn't afford the really good ones either so I went with a compromise from a Finnish company called Tunturi and their model Pure Run 2.1.
It has a fairly good computer and a good motor with 2.5hp....which is said to be enough for a person of my weight...you can also electrically adjust the elevation up to 10% which is nice.
It cost just shy of 1200€....fuckin' insane still eventhough it was on sale...
Well here's hoping it'll be a good one and ofcourse now I can also keep running during the winter time which outside is outright dangerous.
My summer routine has been so far
Monday: Run (45 to 60 minutes)
Tuesday: Triceps/Biceps/Forearms (dumbbell)
Wednesday: Run (50 min)
Thursday: Shoulders/Pecks/Back
Friday: Run: (50-60 mins)
Saturday: Biceps/Forearms (Barbell)
Sunday: rest

That sucks! treadmill's good, but nothing beats going out for a run or a walk in the bush. Just gotta watch out for ticks in my area.

Indeed, that being said just had my second run on the treadmill and I gotta say it pushes you in a whole different way. You can't ease up so easily...and the automatical incline adjustment makes it even more challenging.
I'm really liking it.

Well son of a bitch....seems that I broke something in my forearm. I was just doing some Shoulder Presses and all of a sudden a very sharp pain near the elbow...Now can't really grip or lift anything...
Oh well...gotta take one extra painkiller tonight and see how it feels tomorrow...
-
Oh, snap :o
-
Oh, snap :o
Well seems like nothing snapped though. :D
There's still some pain present but nothing too bad...gotta keep away from weight lifting for few more days though...

Yeah, that stuff seems unhealthy... ;) :P

I finally bought a very simple upper and lower Cable Machine...
Been wanting to have one for years since it would add a lot of variety to just dumbbell and barbell moves...Last week I saw an offer I couldn't pass and went and ordered one...well it arrived today:
Couple of little changed need to be made...gotta make a new seat, that is waaaay to short as it won't allow to proper pulldown on chest. I already cut the new seat out of plywood now I just need to pad it with foam and make a cover..
Also gotta make (or maybe I'll just buy a triceps rope attachment) triceps v-bar or something...
Gotta give it a proper test tomorrow.

^^^^^^
I did not know you was an archer. 8)

I think it's a law that Fins have to hunt their own food without firearms.
-
Nah we do actually have a very strong hunting culture here...mainly because we have an uncontrollably large population of Moose and Deer.
But yeah I've had the crossbow for years...haven't been using it lately though. Need to get new hunting arrow tips too.

So....
New year means more workouts!
Been a little over a month since my last workout. Had my back injury (or ailment or what ever) in early Dec and it stopped me on my tracks as far as workouts go.
But it's been better now and eventhough I can still feel a pinch every now and then I am confident I can carry on again...lightly anyways. This has been driving me nuts though not being able to workout. Also I've been watching my muscles dissappear...and the fat appear.
So it is time to do something about that...I probably gained like 7 or 8 pounds over the christmas so gotta start getting rid of that shit again...had my first run on the treadmill this week too...man you lose a lot of your stamina in just a months time...
But yeah, now it's time to get back on the horse again and start to get rid of this fat ass that has developed on my stomach...yeah...I am so fat now even my stomach has a fat ass.
-

:))
I'm sure all those import beers you try don't help.
-

Damn...you might be onto something there...
-
Just remember, if you want to gain weight, eat more.
If you want to lose weight, eat less.
If you want to stay the same, do whatever the hell you've been doing.
Exercise every day that you can, you'll be fine.
-
:D
Eating more is usually much easier than eating less for some odd reason...
Well I went to the scale...turns out I only gained 4 pounds during christmas...but then again it might be bit more as I probably lost few pounds of muscle mass as well...
But it is time to start the hard work again.
Gotta try to get back to the 3 runs a week 4 workouts a week routine.
-
Well I've won over 1500€ from internet casinos in the past week and I thought it might be time to renew some of my workout equipment.
So I went and bought a workout station. I've been wanting to get one for a while now mainly because I wanted a press machine since my shoulder's don't really like doing bench press with barbell anymore... So I thought a sitting press might be a better option.
I ordered this one:

I looked good, has a pretty nice ammount of weights to it and a nice variety of exercise options. And most importantly it's not too high so it actually fits to my workout room.
-
Looks nice and varied. Do you adjust weights with torsion settings or actual pins in the stack of irons?
-

I am not sure...but from what I gathered from the pics it would be pins in the stack of irons. I'm hoping so anyways.
-
I prefer the pins in irons method, it's what I grew up with. Dials and doodads can fail in odd ways and get out of calibration. Metal pretty much stays metal for a very long time.
-
Metal pretty much stays metal for a very long time.
Indeed...and it applies to workout equipment as well as music. ;D
-
So how would you mount a CD on it for your workout music picture?
-
Hmm...good question. I think I still need to have my first workout of the week with dumbbells so I can have that pic! :D

Two days into building that new workout station...

Oh yeah, they probably don't deliver stuff like that already assembled! :D
-
Finally finished....
Wasn't the easiest thing I've ever built... :D
-
Awesome! Hope you don't have to move it to a new location!
-
Hahah! Yeah. I had to move it that 3 feet from the place I built it at and needed a crowbar and a whole lot of elbow grease to do it! Damn thing weighs over 300 pounds!
-
Well I'm back working out a bit....Been over 6 months...all the health issues and whatnots came and I just totally lost motivation...
I'm hoping to get it back bit by bit now...
-
I'm having more trouble with my nerves, so I am walking around much less.
-
That sucks...
So far so good for me...third workout today...and I'm starting to find the motivation again...maybe I'll get back on the horse again...
-
Enjoy it while you can, that's for sure!
