-
Welcome To The Jungle, Sweet Child o' Mine and Paradise City will most certainly be the top 3
-
Live And Let Die cover might squeeze in there somewhere as well...as it is without adoubt the most played GnR track on the station...
-
You Could Be Mine, Civil War and November Rain are likely to make a showing but I wouldn't want to suggest a position.
-
^^ November Rain could very well be a top 3 contender too. I think we've nailed 7/10 anyway. Other ones that will most likely round out the top 10 are Don't Cry, Knockin' on Heaven's Door and Patience. Could easily substitute one of those for Estranged though. The smokey could be Nightrain.
-
Welcome To The Jungle, Sweet Child o' Mine and Paradise City will most certainly be the top 3
Totally agree Jack. There are a lot of great tunes on the Illusions albums but the radio friendly ones will probably make a showing. Patience off of G'n'R Lies will be in for sure, maybe right behind the top 3.
-
My prediction of the top ten in this order.
10) Nightrain
9) Mr. Brownstone
8) Yesterdays
7) You Could be Mine
6) November Rain
5) Civil War
4) Patience
3) Sweet Child O Mine
2) Paradise City
1) Welcome to the Jungle
-
Hah! I don't even know half of those songs!
But from what I do know your top 5 might be pretty close although Patience will give way to Live And Let Die, which will be high on the list.
-
Okay the voting ended yesterday and today they started going through the Top 10 list for GnR..
#10: Rocket Queen
-
Wow that one is a bit of a surprise. I like the song, but didn't think it would be top 10.
My list is already wrong.
-
Don’t Cry will be on there also, which version I don’t know.
-
Oh almost forgot about today's song.
#9 was Don't Cry
Sorry Discman...your 0 out of 2 now... :( Jack and Elves got this one though.
-
Rocket Queen was a shock but definitely not a disappointment. Great song, love the change.
-
#8 Nightrain
-
Oh almost forgot about today's song.
#9 was Don't Cry
Sorry Discman...your 0 out of 2 now... :( Jack and Elves got this one though.
Yeah I am sucking at this. Honestly Don't cry was a stupid non pick on me. I personally don't like the song, but I should have known it would make the list
-
#7 Estranged
-
Two great picks from the Illusion albums. Wasn't Estranged, Don't Cry and November Rain considered some kind of trilogy?
-
Honestly I didn't like any of those songs...Honestly the only one I've liked so far is Rocket Queen.
#6 You Could Be Mine
-
Back on more familiar territory with this one, hopefully the top 5 will be more predictable: Civil War (but I fear it might not be in the list at all!), November Rain, Paradise City, Sweet Child O' Mine and Welcome to the Jungle.
-

Oh trust me Civil War will be on the list...it's on constant rotation on the station.
-
And it was!
5. Civil War
-
Phew! ;)
-
I'll throw in my predictions for the final 4
Paradice City
Sweet Child o' Mine
Live And Let Die
Welcome To The Jungle
-
Darn.
#4 Welcome To The Jungle
Was hoping this would have gotten a higher place.
-
#3 Sweet Child O' Mine
Which means the top two will be Live And Let Die and Paradice City...who knows Live And Let Die might actually be #1!
-
And yet I wouldn't be surprised if November Rain was in there. It's not a favourite of mine but it is well regarded so if it didn't make the Top 10 I would be surprised. I will go with that and Paradise City in the top 2 slots.
(I did think Sweet... would be No. 1)
-
#2 was Paradice City
I knew Live And Let Die would be high on the list but #1...that was a surprise.
-
Still can't believe November Rain hasn't made an appearance. Would be a very odd choice if an inferior cover song was to land #1
-
^^^
I like Live and Let Die but I still think November Rain will be No. 1
-
^^^
I like Live and Let Die but I still think November Rain will be No. 1
I don't mind it either but it's not as good as the original.
-
Well I am just basing by guess on the fact that Live And Let Die is the most played GnR song on the station...
-
Well I stand corrected (and bit surprised even)
#1 was November Rain
Live And Let Die (eventhough it is the most played GnR song on the radio) didn't even make it to the list...I suppose people were smart enough to not vote for a cover song then.
-
If it's the most played on radio it may be that everyone got sick and tired of it. But I couldn't see November Rain not being on the list at all.
-

Most likely yes...although that didn't stop Paranoid from being #1... :D
-
I gotta say I was pretty darn shocked to look at the band featured this month at 10th place...actually made me vomit in my mouth a bit. But sadly this also shows that the listener base of Radio Rock is perhaps bit younger than I expected...
10 = Five Finger Death Punch
:wtf:
-
Who?
Bring on April
-
Yeah wouldn't even bother keeping us informed of 5FDP top ten. What's going on over there Charger? It's bad enough they made the list let alone are ahead of Sabbath.
-
Agreed... This is rather ridiculous. Makes me really worry about the rest of the list...
-
Yeah, I am not even going to make a prediction top 10 for them, since I probably only know 2 or 3 of their songs.
-
Yeah, I am not even going to make a prediction top 10 for them, since I probably only know 2 or 3 of their songs.
That is 2 or 3 songs more than I know.
-
I've heard a few songs on radio and it's all fuck this fuck that fuck me fuck you-type of lyrics...extremely chidlish stuff...
But at the same time I can understand why they might be big among the adolescent crowd as they might find it "cool" or what ever....but not for me.
-
I think that 5FDP are OK, childish sure and a bit moronic, I still say that the musicians are damn good. I have a couple of their albums and I really think their debut was the best thing that they have done.
That being said they would not appear on my top 100 let alone my top 12.
-
Well this was the Top 10 list for Five Finger Death Punch in case someone cares (I sure as heck don't! :D):
#10
Five Finger Death Punch
10. Never Enough
9. Coming Down
8. House Of The Rising Sun
7. Wrong Side Of Heaven
6. Gone Away
5. Jekyll And Hyde
4. Under And Over It
3. The Bleeding
2. Bad Company
1. Wash It All Away
-
I wonder which band will be next Charger?
-
Yeah I think I know maybe 3 or 4 of those songs. On to April now
-
I wonder which band will be next Charger?
I am pondering the same thing... I have to say the inclusion of Five Finger Death Punch makes me fear it can be almost anything...
But we'll find out on April 1st.
-

I am pondering the same thing... I have to say the inclusion of Five Finger Death Punch makes me fear it can be almost anything...
But we'll find out on April 1st.
April 1st? Then the next band is Bananarama.
-
Ahh cause it's April fool's day! :D
-
Oh I'm jumping the gun here!
#9 is PANTERA
My vote went to the song Cemetary Gates...As much as I enjoy Vulgar Display Of Power and Reinventing The Steel Cemetary Gates will always be the high point for me...that song pretty much to me shows Pantera at their finest.
-
Oh Almost forgot!
The Top 10 of Pantera started this week..
10. Drag The Waters
-
9. I'm Broken
-
8. Primal Concrete Sledge
-
I do own Vulgar Display and Cowboys, but I haven't listened to either in a "very" long time. Perhaps I should give 'em a spin again to see if my tastes have changed in all that time.
-
I'd recommend that. Both of those are great albums.
I also enjoy Reinventing The Steel...but the other two not so much.
-
Reinventing the Steel and The Great Southern Trendkill are the only Pantera albums I can listene to these days. I played Cowboys and Vulgar to absolute death back in the day and find them hard to listen to now. Far Beyond Driven has some good songs but never quite clicked with me as whole.
-
I feel the same way about Far Beyond Driven...I find it hard to understand why that is their biggest album..
I was never a really BIG Pantera fan so I've never listened to any of their albums to death...I revisit them from time to time.
-
7. Floods
-
4. Fucking Hostile
-
I presume the radio station sensored the title in someway, or are they allowed to use swears during daytime?
-
I presume the radio station sensored the title in someway, or are they allowed to use swears during daytime?
They are. All music that comes on Radio Rock is completely uncensored...not to mention the hosts can occationally get pretty darn...lets say verbal! :D
-
Darn it...
Looks like they DID actually continue the list during easter eventhough there were no actual programs that aired...strange...
Well that means I missed two.. I think Friday's #6 was Mouth For War but I am not sure...
Anyways
3. Cemetary Gates
-
So you're missing #5?
Just going through what's already made the list my tip would be maybe 5 Minutes Alone to be one of the missing songs or This Love. #1 and #2 might be Walk and Cowboys From Hell in either order.
-
This Love I think might be a pretty good bet for #5...
#1 should be Cowboys and #2 Walk for sure...
They will play all the songs in a row on Sunday afternoon so I'm gonna check it out then.
-
2. Walk
-
As expected #1 was Cowboys From Hell
So I missed #5...gotta check out the Sunday night broadcast of the entire top 10 list to get it.
-
The missing #5 was
5 Minutes Alone
-
Tomorrow we'll find out who's #8...
I wonder will it be a finnish band...
-
So who was #8?
-
Hasn't been released yet....looks like labour day mixed things up a bit...
-
Hasn't been released yet....looks like labour day mixed things up a bit...
Labor Day? That's not till September, we’re still a bit far from it.
-

Labor Day? That's not till September, we’re still a bit far from it.
Our labour day is on May 1st.
-

Our labour day is on May 1st.
Oh, ok.
-
And as I predicted #8 is a finnish band. But not a very good one...called Stamina. And it's hard to consider this an iconic band as it was formed in 1996 and their first album came out in 2005...
But it has become very popular here. Not my cup of tea honestly. Musically it's not that bad (perhaps bit on the commercial side ofcourse) but I really don't like bands who sing in finnish anyways.
As none of you even know this band (and I only know maybe one song) I won't bother keeping you posted but I will post the entire top 10 list on the first post of this thread as usual.
-
Yop! Never heard of them. We wait for the next one on the list
-
Okay so Stamina is gone now and the full list of songs is on the first post like the others.
In a few days we'll find out who's next on the list...I'm hoping for an actually iconic band again something like Motörhead or DIO or Deep Purple or Priest or something like that but who knows...this listing so far has been odd to say the least...
-
Well okay so the weirdness continues...
7th place is AMORPHIS...really? WTF is this shit??!?!
-
Who? :o
-
My thoughts exactly...
Well they are a Finnish band that has been getting more and more popular I suppose but I seriously don't like them one bloody bit.
-
Okay people now it's go time again!!!
#6 has just been revealed and it is....
Drum roll please....
:bill:
QUEEN!
So predictions then people!
The winner is gonna be Bohemian Rhapsody of that I am pretty certain. We Will Rock You should be 2. Show Must Go On, Stone Cold Crazy, Who Wants To Live Forever should all be on the list too...
I voted for Stone Cold Crazy...that's always been my favourite.
-
It depends if it is a more mainstream vote, or one which is "heavier". My guess is it will be the usual suspects, so:
Bohemian Rhapsody
We Will Rock You
Killer Queen
Somebody to Love
Hammer to Fall
You're My Best Friend
Seven Seas of Rhye
Ogre Battle
Another One Bites the Dust
We Are the Champions
Hopefully there will be some deeper cuts.
-
I know what you mean...
There have been some surprises on the lists from the other bands so far so you never know.
Bohemian Rhapsody
We Will Rock You
The Show Must Go On
Stone Cold Crazy
We Are The Champions
I Want It All
Another One Bites The Dust
Who Wants To Live Forever
Are probably all gonna be on it though...but then some of those deeper numbers you chose might make it too... Killer Queen and Seven Seas Of Rhye would be cool to see..Tie Your Mother Down is another one I'd like to see on the list.
-
^^ I think between yous you should nail a lot of them, however I'd like to add Don't Stop Me Now, Somebody To Love and A kind Of Magic. Also a heavier favourite of mine "Dragon Attack"
-
^^^
How did Iforget Don't Stop Me Now!!
^^^
^^^
How did I forget Tie Your Mother Down!!
-
^^They had so many hits it's very easy to forget.
-
I think we might need our own Queen list after this is done. Top 10 songs and Top 5 albums.
-
Good idea...we should probably do that for all the bands (decent bands that is) after this is done...
-
Queen would have been nothing without John Deacon, Brian May, Freddie Mercury, and Roger Taylor. Just sayin'. :problem:
-
Oh almost forgot! The list kicked off today!
10. Radio Ga Ga
Which is an interesting choice... would not have been on my list.
Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
-
I was expecting (well hoping) it to be a 70s heavy list with little or no 80s stuff in it. Radio Ga Ga is one of my least favourite songs by them.
-
Ok then if Radio Ga Ga is on the list it might lean towards their 10 biggest hit(charting) songs as apposed to a heavier song list.
I actually like some of their 80's stuff. The Game is one of my favourite albums of their's as well as the Its a Kind of Magic album. I Want It All from The Miracle album is a great song also.
-
Agreed.
Well first one from my list made it
9. Another One Bites The Dust
-
Another one from my list:
8. I Want It All
For someone who's not that big of a Queen fan I'm doing alright on this one now! ;D
-
Now point goes to KDC
7. Killer Queen
-
Wow...another one of my picks....
6. Who Wants To Live Forever
-
KDC gets a point!
5. Somebody To Love
-
I'm expecting the "usual suspects" from now... just not sure which order!
-
I'd be pretty surprised if We Will Rock you and Bohemian Rhapsody wouldn't be the top 2 songs.
-
Ok, so with Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions and We Will Rock You sure to take up 3 of the 4 remaining spots Does anyone think the other spot could go to Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Under Pressure or I Want To Break Free? They weren't mentioned on your lists. Or will it just be Don't Stop Me Now?
-
I'm rooting for Stone Cold Crazy but I doubt it...
-
I'm rooting for Stone Cold Crazy but I doubt it...
Yeah, I'd like to see that or Brighton Rock or Tie Your Mother Down, something heavy but it's highly unlikely given the list so far.
-
Well Jack gets a point now!
4. Don't Stop Me Now
Honestly I never thought this song would be on the list...not among my favourites...not even close.
-
^^^ I thought it would be in the top 10, maybe not that high though. I think We Are the Champions might miss out now.
-
Well the one to leave out is either We Are The Champions or The Show Must Go On...Honestly a bit of a shock if either one of those is left out but yeah I do also believe it'll be Champions.
My Guess for top 3:
The Show Must go on
We Will Rock you
Bohemian Rhapsody
-
^^^
Is there that much love for The Show Must Go On, it's ok, but not top 3 material surely?
-
I thought that one was one of their biggest songs?
It is in rather heavy rotation on the radio anyways...more than We Are The Champions...but ofcourse that might not mean anything...
I personally would love to see Stone Cold Crazy drop it but honestly can't see that happening...I was holding on for a possibility of it being 4th but no...
-
I think We Are the Champions might miss out now.
What makes you think that? What's your top 3?
-
I think We Are the Champions might miss out now.
What makes you think that? What's your top 3?
Just a hunch, but they've done so many great songs something has to miss out.
1. Bo Rap (as no one with street cred is calling it ;) )
2. We Will Rock You
3. 1 from:
Seven Seas of Rhye
You're My Best Friend
Hammer to Fall
yes, We Are the Champions is still a possibility
A Kind of Magic
I Want to Break Free
or perhaps there's still a surprise like Fat Bottomed Girls or Crazy Little Thing Called Love
-
Sorry KDC...
3. The Show Must Go On
-
^^^
The Finnish are weird! :P
-
Yes that I know! ;D
-
^^^
The Finnish are weird! :P
You can say that again
-
Well now we're in for a bit of a shock...
2. We Are The Champions
Which means either We Will Rock you or Bohemian Rhapsody is out...
:kramer:
-
No way Bohemian Rhapsody misses out. At least this list hasn't been too predictable.
Might be time to do our own Queen list of top 10 songs & top 5 albums Charger.
-
Yeah had couple of surprises here for sure. Never thought for a second We Will Rock You wouldn't make it to the list...
By all means Jack fire away on the Queen thread! I'm bit busy at the moment so I'll be checking it out then later and gives me time to think about the songs...
-
I think I have my top 5 albums sorted but trying to do their top 10 songs is going to be no easy task.
-
And as expected
1. Bohemian Rhapsody
The absence of We Will Rock You was quite shocking, sure it's overplayed but it is still one of their most iconic songs. Just like Paranoid is for Sabbath.
And considering how heavy the list was in the more commercial stuff anyways it is strange that it didn't make it.
-
^^^
The Finnish are weird! :P
Confirmed. They left "We Will Rock You" off the list.
-
Aaaand Number 5 on the list is.....
NIGHTWISH
I was most certainly expecting Nightwish to make it on the list but honestly not quite this high. But ofcourse they are the most succesful Finnish band of all time.
I'm gonna have to think about the list a bit for this one...
-
I'm out of this one. I honestly couldn't name one Nightwish song let alone come up with a top ten list.
-
I've heard of them, don't know anything about them!
-
Most successful Finnish band... must not mean much outside of Finland, I'm sorry...
-
Most successful Finnish band... must not mean much outside of Finland, I'm sorry...
Actually it does. They've had sold out tours all over the world...including the US.
But I am glad you got your chance to dis Finland and Nightwish. Good for you.
-
I think Nightwish is a first rate band and they are one of the few who can pull off the symphonic side of Metal convincingly.
-
I don't like any symphonic metal at all but no denying they do have a following, moreso in Europe as they love that type of music over there but elsewhere as well.
-

True. And there are good and bad symphonic metal bands too... I like some and don't like some.
Nightwish were among the originators especially in the female fronted category. Some of their stuff is great some of their stuff not so much.
But anyways, doesn't seem to have much interest here so I'll pass on reporting this list as well.
-
Nah put the list up charger. I'll give some of them a listen.
-
The word "symphonic" has peaked my interest. Could someone post an example of one of Nightwish's symphonic metal numbers so I can give it a listen?
-
Here's a track from their first album:
And here's one of their biggest songs:
-
^^^^^^
Hey, this is interesting music. :) The 1st piece I liked a lot more. The 2nd piece I would refer to as operatic symphony. My reaction is consistent to that of Classical music. I listen to some symphonies, but they are not my favorite type of classical arrangements. I will have to check out some more from the Nightwish 1st album. :) I think Thel owns that one.
-

No, I meant no disrespect, sorry. Just that I'd never heard of them, like the others before me.
-
No, I meant no disrespect, sorry. Just that I'd never heard of them, like the others before me.
Ah...no problem. Besides dissing Finland is more than okay in my book...this country sucks donkey balls but Nightwish is for the most part quite good.
-
Well this one should interest some atleast.
#4
AC/DC
-
Cool! We're back on again... :guitar:
-
I'll have a stab at the ten I think will be the voted ten, not necessarily the best or my favourite ten songs, although some are my favourites.
Not in any particular order
Thunderstruck
Back In Black
Highway To Hell
Let There Be Rock
Whole Lotta Rosie
For Those About To Rock
Shoot to Thrill
Hells Bells
You Shook Me All Night Long
Dirty Deeds(Done Dirt Cheap)
Hard to really know how the Finns would vote but I'd assume the Brian Johnson era songs will outnumber the Bon Scott era songs.
-
^^^
I wouldn't argue with those selections, except maybe Touch Too Much instead pf Thunderstruck.
-
^^^
I wouldn't argue with those selections, except maybe Touch Too Much instead pf Thunderstruck.
Really? Thunderstruck is one of their biggest songs. Touch Too Much would be in my personal top ten though.
-
You left out TNT.
Thunderstruck was the song I voted for! :D
-
I am assuming the list will contain the following songs:
TNT
Thunderstruck
For Those Who Are About To Rock
Back In Black
Hells Bells
Highway To Hell
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Hard As A Rock
Let There Be Rock
Big Gun
But in all honesty I don't know that much about AC/DC...
I think some can be substituted with songs Jack chose...
-
You left out TNT.
Thunderstruck was the song I voted for! :D
TNT wouldn't surprise me at all, it's another that would be in my personal top ten.
Just have a feeling Brian Johnson songs will feature heavily given they wouldn't have really taken off over there until after the 70's era. I'm more a Bon era fan so I hope I'm wrong.
-

TNT will be there. The two most played tracks are TNT and Thunderstruck.
-
My list would be similar to Jack's.
Thunderstruck
Back In Black
Highway To Hell
Given The Dog A Bone
Are You Ready
For Those About To Rock
Shoot to Thrill
Hells Bells
You Shook Me All Night Long
Dirty Deeds(Done Dirt Cheap)
-
Ok my list would be:
Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap)
Touch Too Much
Whole Lotta Rosie
Highway to Hell
Hell's Bells
Let Me Put My Love Into You
You Shook Me All Night Long
Back In Black
For Those About To Rock
TBA
D'ya think anything post 1990 is likely to make the list? I'm thinking not.
-
^Thunderstruck is one of their biggest songs.
Also, you've got Dirty Deeds twice
-
D'ya think anything post 1990 is likely to make the list? I'm thinking not.
I put down Hard As A Rock....I'm thinking it might get in...Stiff Upper Lip is another one...I don't think anything from the last 2 though.
-
^Thunderstruck is one of their biggest songs.
Also, you've got Dirty Deeds twice
It was my list not necessarily what I think will make the actual top 10.
And, um, oops that was careless, I'll edit that, but I need to think about it!
-
Dirty Deeds belongs on the list twice, put it back! :)
-
Almost forgot about this today..
So a point goes to....everyone else but me....this feels like a sporting bet now....
10. You Shook Me All Night Long
-
^^^
That's one of my favs... I had hoped it might be a little higher.
-
Well now a point for everyone...Even ME!
9. For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)
-
Point to Jack and KDC!
8. Whole Lotta Rosie
-
We HELLO!
A point only to me! :wtf:
7. TNT
-
^^^^^^
I figured that one would be there, but I never liked that song, so I kept it off my list.
-
^^^^^^
I figured that one would be there, but I never liked that song, so I kept it off my list.
Oh really? It's actually one of my favourite AC/DC tunes! ;D
-
Me and Jack got this one
6. Let There Be Rock
-
I'm thinking Highway to Hell *might* win this, with Dirty Deeds, Hells Bells and Back in Black still to come I'm not sure what the fifth might be, I know Jack would like it to be Thunderstruck, I would like it ot be Touch Too Much but I think if that was going to be in the top 10 we would have seen it already.
-

I am almost 100% sure Thunderstruck will win...but it could very well be Highway To Hell too...
-

Like the title implies, TNT blows. :))
-
This one goes for everyone!
5. Back In Black
-
KDC gets the sole point on this one!
4. Touch Too Much
And then it's the top 3...
I have to say the third one is a bit of a mystery to me..
But I could see it like this
3. Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap)
2. Highway To Hell
1. Thunderstruck
But 3. could also be Hells Bells...
-
Pleasantly surprised with that one! :partay:
I can't see Hells Bells not making the list so maybe Thunderstruck will miss out... :-X
-
Bravo Finland getting that one in there.
-
Bit surprised by this one
3. Thunderstruck
I honestly expected it to win...
So Highway to Hell is gonna win, rightly so I'd say too... But nr. 2? Dirty Deeds or Hells Bells?
-
It's a good song, just not in my top 10. Thunderstruck was not that big in the UK, it didn't even chart!
I think it must be Dirty Deeds that misses out, I can't see Highway to Hell or Hells Bells not making the list!
-
Oh my...
Things just got interesting and quite shockingly so I might add...
2. Highway To Hell
-
COME ON DIRTY DEEDS!!!
-
Aaaaand
1. HELL'S BELLS
I have to admit I am bit surprised that this won...It's a great song (better than Highway To Hell I'd say) but I didn't think it was this popular.
Equally (or even more so) surprised about the fact that Dirty Deeds was completely left out.
-
Hells Bells is a top 5 AC/DC song for me so I'm glad it won. But yes, Dirty Deeds not making the ten is a shocker!
I got 7 correct... which is pretty good for me.
-
7 for me too...must be a record.
So any guesses on the top 3 bands?
Maiden and Metallica will fight for #1 I am sure...but #3? Led Zeppelin? I hope not but it is a possibility.
-
I think I got 8 right.
Missed TNT and Touch Too Much opting instead for Shoot To Thrill and Dirty Deeds which like you's am surprised didn't make the cut.
-
You did indeed Jack! Well done! That's an all time record I think.
-
^ Don't mess with the Oz Ozzy! :)
-
Oh god...another gigantic piece of shit land on top 3!!! This is sad....really sad.
#3.
RAMMSTEIN
:puke:
-
I love Rammstein :smug:
-
I love Rammstein :smug:
Really? That surprises me a bit.
I find them rather horrible formulatic pop"metal" crap who use theatrics and antics to get ahead as their music isn't good enough. :D
Well feel free to make predictions bud! I only know tracks from their Mutter album which I do enjoy somewhat but that is their last metal album.
-
Not a group I'm familiar with.
So that leaves Iron Maiden and Metallica to fight it out for No. 1 or do we have another surprise in store?
-
They are far from pop metal. Ghost is pop metal. I'd describe Rammstein as heavy industrial/dark electro. I just found them a breath of fresh air to what was happening in the mid/late 90's. Same as I found SOAD a breath of fresh air as well.
Their albums have been hit & miss since the first two but I really liked their latest one. Favourite album of 2019 for me.
I'll have to think about this one though....
-
Industrial, pop, dark, doom, black, electro, groove, pantomime, stampeding cattle!
??? I think you guys make up these music categories out of thin air.
-
They are far from pop metal. Ghost is pop metal.
Well yeah...Ghost most certainly is. But I also find Rammsteins later stuff much more radio friendly poppier softer melodies and less guitar based than lets say Mutter was.
But ofcourse they've moved towards the mainstream stuff as it works for them and they've become bigger and bigger (for reasons I do not understand) every year and with every more commercial sounding album. Electro-industrial popmetal might be pretty close yeah.
Industrial, pop, dark, doom, black, electro, groove, pantomime, stampeding cattle!
??? I think you guys make up these music categories out of thin air.
Sadly no...there really are dozens of different types of metal categories out there...which is ridiculous that's for sure!
Here's a pretty comprehensive list although I think it's missing a few too:

Hey, thanks for the info. I believe I am going to check out some Cello Metal. :) Coincidentally, it recommended a band from Finland, Apocalyptica.

Hey, thanks for the info. I believe I am going to check out some Cello Metal. :) Coincidentally, it recommended a band from Finland, Apocalyptica.
Yeah...they're the forerunners in that...probably the only "bigger" band doing it...they started their career off doing Metallica covers with only 4 cellos.
-
Yeah, I heard of Apocalyptica a few years back. Not my stuff, but interesting.
As for Rammstein... number one song will be "Du Hasst". Don't know any others, but I know that one.
-
I'm only familiar with Rammstein's song Amerika, which is very good.
-
Okay now that the Rammstein list is complete there are only 2 left.
I stated from the very start those would be Iron Maiden and Metallica, but honestly now I am not 100% sure anymore as this list has been filled with very very odd choices. And based on the comments on their facebook page it looks like the listening audience is much younger than before which might mean something different here...I hope not but you never know.
-
Surely it must those two left to come! I don't know which order though.
-
One would imagine so...
Based on the 500 greatest rock songs vote the station held couple of years ago I'd say it's Maiden #2 and Metallica #1 as Metallica's Master Of Puppets won that vote.
-
It's hard to imagine Metallica or Maiden being left out. Even harder trying to imagine a band that would be there instead of them.
-
It's hard to imagine Metallica or Maiden being left out. Even harder trying to imagine a band that would be there instead of them.
Indeed...but honestly I wouldn't be surprised by anything anymore that has to do with this list! :D
Anyways you being the only guy who really knows anything about Rammstein what did you think of the list of songs?
-
I didn't see the list. And seeing no one else was interested I didn't bother posting my list.
-
I didn't see the list. And seeing no one else was interested I didn't bother posting my list.
It's on the first post along with all the other lists! :D
-
Oh ok I've seen what you did. You've edited the first post of this thread and put all the bands and songs so far.
The Rammstein list ain't bad, quite predictable actually but personally I would have a few more songs from the first two albums. I thought Engel would've been in the top 5 also.
-
:D
I thought that was quite obvious as I had done that since the beginning...
I was happy to see Links on the list as that's probably my favourite Rammstein song...
-
Never noticed it, especially once the page turned over :)
-
So, how's Maiden looking? :)
-
So, how's Maiden looking? :)
It's looking like it is #2 on the list! :)
So come on people. Now it's time to put your top 10 Maiden tracks down!
-
I'm going to guess that all 10 songs will come from the first 5 albums.
No.1 will probably be Hallowed Be Thy Name
I'll need to think about the rest.
-
#1 will be Fear Of The Dark of that I am rather certain...might be Hallowed too but I'm guess Fear.
I might need to do two lists here...my personal top 10 and then the one that will be voted.
-
I'm thinking these songs should get on the list
Iron Maiden
Run To The Hills
The Number Of The Beast
The Trooper
Aces High
2 Minutes To Midnight
The Evil That Men Do
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Fear Of The Dark
Then I could imagine one bit of an odd one (for some atleast) I personally would love to see a Blaze era track there, Clansman or Man On The Edge as that era really has gotten much more love again finally. But might also be something like Phantom Of The Opera or Rime Of The Ancient Mariner but I kind of doubt it though...Running Free might be the missing one...
Then MY list...now this is hard and frankly might look very different again tomorrow.
10. Dance Of Death
9. Phantom Of The Opera
8. Caught Somewhere In Time
7.. The Sign Of The Cross
6. The Nomad
5. Lightning Strikes Twice
4. Edge Of Darkness
3. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
2. To Tame A Land
1. The Clansman
Pretty much all in the list between 10 and 2 could change places and frankly could be replaced with the likes of The Educated Fool, Judgement Of Heaven, Dream Of Mirrors, Alexander The Great and maybe even 2 Minutes To Midnight which suffers a lot from being overplayed to death though...same with Hallowed Be Thy Name. But THE CLANSMAN will always be the absolute number 1! That'll never change, that is THE PERFECT song in every goddamn way.
-
My faves center around the first 3 albums with Bruce Dickinson, but I do enjoy Fear of the Dark, Out of the Silent Planet, and Can I Play with Madness.
My list is...
10. Can I Play with Madness
9. Fear of the Dark
8. Out of the Silent Planet
7. The Trooper
6. The Number of the Beast
5. Revelations
4. Gangland
3. 2 Minutes to Midnight
2. Aces High
1. Peace of Mind
-
Ooh I like to see someone else enjoy Gangland! That's usually the most hated song on that album for some reason...
-
Ooh I like to see someone else enjoy Gangland! That's usually the most hated song on that album for some reason...
Really? I think it's slammin'!
-
Gangland rules! So does Invaders.
I like Chargers first list. Not necessarily my personal favourite list but the songs that will make the 10 based on being the most mainstream recognised and commercially successful. I'd probably throw in Can I Play With Madness though. Can't stand that song myself.
-
Wow...we agree on something Jack! I left out Can I Play With Madness eventhough it might very well make it on the list just because I dislike it so much...It's probably the most commercial pop song maiden has ever done.
-
^^Dont mind it musically, I really dig Nicko's playing on the song and Dave, Adrian & Steve deliver but the chorus is about as lame as Maiden have got.
-
I've over elaborated again, because I can't limit the choices :P
So I've gone with a My Top 10 from the early albums (upto Somewhere in Time) and a My Top 10 from the later albums (A Brave New World and beyond). While the ones between have their moments they're not really up to par.
So the early albums I've gone with (Chronologically)
Phantom of the Opera
Hallowed Be Thy Name
The Prisoner
Revelations
Flight of Icarus
Quest for Fire
Flash of the Blade
Back in the Village
Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Wasted Years
... and then the later albums:
The Wicker Man
The Fallen Angel
Rainmaker
New Frontier
Face in the Sand
Age of Innocence
These Colours Don't Run
The Longest Day
Out of the Shadows
Coming Home
The Alchemist
And then there's the list of what I think the Finnish rock radio listeners might choose...
Running Free
Wrathchild
Murder in the Rue Morgue
The Number of the Beast
Run to the Hills
Hallowed be Thy Name
The Trooper
2 Minutes to Midnight
Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter
While Fear of the Dark is perfectly fine, easily the best track off that album, it's a little uninspired to my ears. Having said that it gets a lot of outings on Planet Rock.
Gangland... Ugh!!
-
Well keep in mind that on that 500 best rock songs list Fear Of The Dark was #6 and the highest Maiden song so based on that it will be #1 here too.
-
I'm not going to argue with you Charger, I just can't get my head around why that solid, but ultimately unspectacular song should be the most popular! :-X
-

Yeah agreed...and lets not remember Paranoid was #1 on the Sabbath list! ;D
-
I like Fear of the Dark but it wouldn't be in my personal top 10 favourites however in a live setting I think it's one of Maidens best. Im talking, witnessing it live.
I find it near impossible to do a personal favourites top 10 for Maiden.
-
What's happening with this result Charger? Thought it might've kicked off at the start of the week.
Btw
Maiden have announced The Legacy of the Beast Tour of Australia April/May 2020 :headbanger:
-
Results start on Nov 18th. Voting is open till then.
They also announced a Finnish date at next years Rock Fest.
-
There's rumours that Priest and Maiden would be up for a joint tour, at least Harris and Halford are saying that anyway.
-
There's rumours that Priest and Maiden would be up for a joint tour, at least Harris and Halford are saying that anyway.
Been bit misquoted on that actually.... Rob said that he'd LIKE to tour with Maiden one day again...nothing about plans to do so.
-
^^^
I'm not saying there are plans, but both sides have shown an interest. It probably won't happen until 2021 at the earliest, if it happens at all.
-
So for some reason they started running through the list one week early this month...which is little odd as it did leave the fans one week less time to vote than on all the other polls. One begins to wonder why...
Anyways.
#10 = Iron Maiden
-
I'm wondering if they want to wrap things up before Christmas, maybe?
Iron Maiden is a solid song but not close to a Top 10 in my mind. It suggests to me that the list will be mainly from the early albums.
-
Iron Maiden is one of their signature songs. Don't think it's ever not been in their setlist. It's an encore song. Fully expected it to make the 10
-
I honestly expected IM to get higher even...I wouldn't call it their top 10 song either but like Jack said it is their signature song.
And these lists do seem to go with the more popular/mainstream songs anyways.
-
Well, Billy's happy for any of the DiAnno numbers to make it. :)
-
Well, Billy's happy for any of the DiAnno numbers to make it. :)
I was thinking the same thing actually. :)
-
Well, Billy's happy for any of the DiAnno numbers to make it. :)

One for Billy! Cheers! :pub:
-
Well we got the surprise track now...I'm rather certain this will be the only one though...
9. Seventh Son Of The Seventh Son
-
If it was die hard Maiden voters SSOSS wouldn't be a surprise but in context of where the votes are coming from it is.
Never been much a fan of the song myself, I think it's ok but Bruce over sings the chorus and it reeks a bit of trying to be another Rime of the Ancent Mariner. The album itself is good but my least favourite of the first seven.
-
I agree with you Jack there...although I do think it's the best song on the album though...the instrumental part is quite good actually...much less repetetive as the later years long songs.
My least favourite of the first 7 would be Killers but 7th Son would be next. Never understood the hype of that one either.
-
Now it does begin to seem that the shorter voting time is beginning to distort the results a bit as we got another surprise track.
8. Caught Somewhere In Time
-
Now that is a surprise. Respect though...
I'm thinking Rime of the Ancient Mariner might actually on there now
Also Charger, just went back and had a look at your list which I pretty much agreed with but just realised you left Wasted Years out. I'm tipping that to make the list.
-
None of those first three would trouble my list, soild songs though.
-
Also Charger, just went back and had a look at your list which I pretty much agreed with but just realised you left Wasted Years out. I'm tipping that to make the list.
Yeah...I was thinking about that one too but honestly didn't think it would make it...but now it clear that because of the shorter voting time casual fans didn't get to vote and this might be bit more of actual fans listing...based on the two surprises here. So it is quite possible Wasted Years will also make it to the list.
It would be nice if the voting numbers would be revealed too on these but that's not the case...But based on what we are seeing I'd say much less voters now than on any of the previous rounds which were all pretty heavy on the "greatest hits" and now out of 3 only 1 of those.
-
Somewhere in Time is my favorite Iron Maiden album so pretty cool to me that they chose a tune off that album.
-
Caught Somewhere In Time was in MY personal top 10 list as well...love that track. The solos in particular are suberb.
-
Yeah great track. One of the best. Sea Of Madness is a song I love as well, so underrated that song.
-
And back to more predictable songs
7. Run To The Hills
-
While I predicted it would be there, the list so far has been somewhat underwhelming!
-
Well in all honesty so have all the others... :D
So far though I think Maiden has had the biggest "surprise" % so far...but I do believe it is because of the shorter voting time...not as much random greatest hits votes as on all the others.
I am already thinking about my Metallica lists...gotta do the same thing with them...a prediction list and own personal favourite which in their case again will look very different.
-
In a slightly related story:
Bruce Dickinson recieved an honorary doctorate from the university of Helsinki

-
And back to more predictable songs
7. Run To The Hills
I like "The Trooper" better. Hmph.
-
And back to more predictable songs

So do everyone else I think that's why it'll be in the top 3! ;)
-
And back to more predictable songs

Unless the crazy Finns forgot to vote for it!
-
Well things are looking "better" now as we are back to the predictable songs.
6. The Number Of The Beast
-
I thought that might have been higher up the list, but definitely one I expected to be on the list somewhere.
-
So does anyone think Hallowed Be Thy Name won't be #1 ?
That would probably be the biggest surprise if it's not.
-
It's gonna be Fear Of The Dark.
Few years ago for the 500 greatest rock songs Fear was #6...Hallowed didn't even make the list!
But I do think it will be in the top 5 here though.
-
Hallowed Be Thy Name is generally considered their greatest song among Maiden fans and even metal fans rate it as one of the best metal songs of all time so that's quite surprising.
Gotta love that the Finns would vote Fear of the Dark in the top 6 rock songs of all time though.
-
Fear Of The Dark has always been a big song in Finland for some reason...Maiden even chose a version recorded in Finland for the Real Live Dead One and the Best Of The Beast.
I have always pondered about the admiration for Hallowed Be Thy Name to be honest. It's a great song but it's not among their best...also the fact that it's been overplayed to death live doesn't help either.
-
Watch the number 1 song be "Sheriff of Huddersfield".
-
^^^^
I'd forgotten all about that one, I haven't heard it since the 80s!
I doubt it will feature in this poll... but it would be nice! :)
-
So it is quite possible Wasted Years will also make it to the list.
Not only possible but it DID make it.
5. Wasted Years
I do have to say things are getting interesting on this list now. This has been much less greatest hits list than any of the others...which I do belive is due to the shorter voting time.
Anyways 4 places left...which means one of these 2 Minutes To Midnight, Aces High, The Trooper, Hallowed Be Thy Name or Fear Of The Dark will be left out...
-
I'm pleasantly surprised. I had it on my personal list, I didn't think it would make the actual list.
-
Maybe Flight of Icarus could make the list?
-
Maybe Flight of Icarus could make the list?
Better not! That songs is baaaad mmmmkay.
-
I love Flight of Icarus, but I don't see it making the list.
The list is a very unpredictable, I'm not sure anything is guaranteed for the top 4!
-
^^Yeah it's a great song. No a bad song on Piece of Mind.
-
^^Yeah it's a great song. No a bad song on Piece of Mind.
Best album, in my book.
But Charger's right, there's going to be some heartbreak with whoever's not invited to the top 4.
-
^^Yeah it's a great song. No a bad song on Piece of Mind.
Hmmm... Flight, Still Life, Quest For Fire and Sun And Steel are all weak to bad songs...
To Tame A Land on the otherhand....now that is a masterpiece!
But still Piece Of Mind is on the bottom end of my Maiden albums list.
-
^^Youre the only person I've known not to like Still Life :twitch:
-
^^Youre the only person I've known not to like Still Life :twitch:
Really? I don't think I've ever heard anyone like it! :D
-

It's not a great song, but I don't actively dislike it.
-

It's only one of the most epic songs, ever.
-

It's only one of the most epic songs, ever.
Now I can't honestly say if you are being sarcastic or if everyone's just ganging up on me again....?
-
No, I really do like "Still Life". It's got a great story build in it, very Lovecraftian/Dunsanian in its tone.
Although, I do have to allow that one day I listened a bit too hard to "Itchycoo Park" by The Small Faces and realized, to my horror, that it essentially had the same plot as "Still Life".
-
Not at all Charger. I'm always intrigued when people can share a love for a band or genre but have polar opposite opinions on said bands songs or albums. Each to their own as always.
-
It is very interesting indeed.
As for the list a more predictable one again:
4. Aces High
This makes me think that either 2 Minutes 2 midnight or Hallowed will be left out.
-
Aces... is a solid song and I understand why it's in the top 10, it's not in mine!
If Hallowed... doesn't make the list Finland should be ashamed of themselves and collectively be forced to self flagellate with barbed wire as punishment! C:-) O:-)
My hope is that Fear... doesn't make the list :P but I expect 2 Minutes... is the one likely to miss out.
-
Well now ZZZ can be happy:
3. The Trooper
-
That's about where I expected it to be, it's good, but again it wouldn't make my list! ;)
-
Wouldn't even make my top 20! ;D
Two more to go...
Hallowed and Fear...that's the battle duo.
-
Well I'll be damned....
2. Fear Of The Dark
-
I'm still shocked it's so popular, glad it's not No. 1
-
Well we might as well start doing our Metallica lists then.
-
Well we might as well start doing our Metallica lists then.
Do we know for sure it's Metallica? It might be some obscure Finnish group :P
-
Well if that turns out to be the case this thread can be shut down altogether and we'll pretend it never happened :-X
-
Well eventhough I am not a big Metallica fan or anything and I'd NEVER EVER rank them the most iconic band in history, I am rather certain they are #1.
I can't see any other options really.
-
Eventhough I personally expected these to be the other way around I'm okay with Hallowed winning this.
1. Hallowed Be Thy Name
But I am still in shock that 2 Minutes To Midnight didn't make it...especially since it gets played on the radio station almost as much as The Trooper. But as stated compared to the others the one week shorter voting time probably twisted the results a bit compared to all the other bands which lead this to be a tad bit less of a "greatest hits" list than the others.
-
Good! The best of te songs to make the list.
Apart from a couple of songs it was pretty much as I expected, but yes I too thought 2 Minutes 2 Midnight would be an early entry in the list.
-
I ended up getting 7 right...or 8 if you count Caught Somewhere In Time which was on my own top list.
Then I think it is time to move our eyes towards METALLICA.
I am assuming no songs past Metallica will make it to the list... I'm thinking 2 or 3 from that album and the rest from the first 3 with maybe one from Justice...that being One (which actually is my LEAST favourite from that album)...
I think I'm gonna split the lists again...one for what I think the votes will be and one personal favourites...and I'd so love to see that from Jack too knowing how much you like metallica. It would be interesting to see if we'd have ANY same songs on our lists.
-
I'll get both my Metallica lists in tomorrow. I dare say my personal list will be made of mostly the first three albums.
-
I've got my list but I have no idea what the Finnish radio listeners will go for...

1. Creeping Death
You guys are more metal-knowledgeable than I, but this one sounds like what use to be called speed metal, to me.

Well kinda but not really. Speed metal was a short lived term phrase/genre which did quickly morph into what became thrash metal. It did sorta end up having its own sub-genre with bands like Exciter, Raven, early Helloween and early Running Wild that played fast but were distinguishable from thrash. It's always been one of those sub-genres that was a little confusied and hard to categorise and never really did properly become a genre though.
-
Well I can now officially say #1 is indeed METALLICA as expected.
Jack pretty much got the list I was thinking about but I'd change one as I don't think Fuel would make it I'd pick battery instead..although might be something from the first one too...
Nothing Else Matters
One
Seek & Destroy
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Creeping Death
Ride The Lightning
Battery
Sad But True
Enter Sandman
and ofcourse the winner will be Master Of Puppets which also was the #1 song on the 500 best rock songs vote.
Then my personal list.
10. Ride The Lightning
9. Blackened
8. Of Wolf And Man
7. The Thing That Should Not Be
6. Creeping Death
5. Battery
4. King Nothing
3. Harvester Of Sorrow
2. Seek & Destroy
And #1 might be a bit of a shocker but I really do love this song.
1. Bleeding Me
I was struggling to leave Master Of Puppets out of the list but I have grown bit tired of that song to be honest. Just like Sabbath's War Pigs this song has just been played to death...and yeah yeah I know it should matter when judging the song itself but it does matter...it just does. It is a great song but honestly I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing it again...
I am happy to see that Jack and atleast have 4 in common. :) Honestly it was a fight between Ride The Lightning and Disposable Heroes but the opening riff of Ride is just so great that's what made the deal for it to be on the list and Heroes not.
Also KDC Damn man your list is interesting and sooooooo happy to see Bleeding Me there too! :)
If I'd had chosen one song from post Load I think it would have been either Broken Beat And Scarred or Cyanide.
-
I was tossing up between Battery and Fuel and went with the later as I'm just trying to predict from a casual fans perspective that may only know what mainstream radio plays. Might be different in Finland though.
I loved Bleeding Me when it came out but I've gone right off Load & Reload in the last 10-15 years. Now that Metallica has somewhat gone back to its more heavier roots for recent albums I find the Load Reload era doesn't hold up to their heavier thrashier stuff. If I put them on shuffle it's quite noticeable and I find myself having to press skip.

I quite understand that. I've always found myself enjoying the first half of Load a lot (which was something me and Billy had in common :) ), Reload on the other hand is horrible.
Fuel is not a bad choice actually as it does get a lot of radio play...but I still kind of think that the classic stuff would take the lead...but I don't know...Maiden list had few surprises so maybe this one will have too...
-
My list would pretty much all be from Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, with the Garage Days EP thrown in and also "Fuel" and "Enter Sandman", which pretty much looks like JtS' Rock Radio list. :smug:
-
Well the final Top 10 list has then started.
10. Battery
-
About time. No surprise Battery has made the list
-
Yep, I like Battery, it only just missed my top 10.
-
About time. No surprise Battery has made the list
Expected/10
-
Oh dear oh dear oh dear...
9. The Unforgiven
-
I'm not surprised with TU. I could have had it in there but I had faith in the Fins that Fade & Sanitaruim would make the list with Nothing Else Matters being the certainty. Was thinking 4 out of 10 ballady type songs would be too much though. Maybe Welcome Home(Sanitarium) will miss instead.
This list could have as many as 4 songs from the Black album, possibly even 5
TU
ES
NEM
SBT
WIMR
-
That's not one I care for much... part 3 of the trilogy is the best but I wouldn't put that anywhere near my list either.
-
I knew this would be heavy on the Metallica album but I was still thinking only 3....but now it most certainly looks like there will be 4!
I kind of feared that The Unforgiven might make it though since it is on heavy rotation on the station...but my deep hatred towards that song hoped that it wouldn't.
Now I gotta start thinking what will be the song that won't make it...Most likely Ride The Lightning. :(
-
"The Unforgiven", huh...
:disappoint:
-
I'm surprised at the low position of this:
8. Creeping Death
Even I ranked this one higher!
-
Yep, deserves to be higher. I rate it as one of the all time great metal songs.
-
That doesn't bode well for the top of the list! >:(
-
Well now this was a real shock!!!
7. Enter Sandman
I was certain this would have been a top 3 song!
-
Given the results so far I was convinced that was going to be No. 1!
-
Suddenly a little faith has been restored. Not that Sandman is a bad song or anything, it's actually a really great song, just overplayed and was their big breakthrough to the mainstream and their most well known song so was definitely thinking it would be top 3.
-
But this does make me fear that Nothing Else Matters (YUCK YUCK SUPERYUCK) is going to be in top 5 then.... :wall:
-
^^Yep that's where the faith is suddenly severed. No way is it worthy of top 3 let alone better than Sandman.
-
I don't mind Nothing Else Matters probably my 2nd favourite off the Metallica album, but no way is it a top 10 Metallica song.
-

It is my least favourite from the album...It's again one of those songs which popularity amazes me.
Sandman is played to death for sure, but it is still a good song.
-
And here's another one I was hoping would have gotten a higher placing...
6. Seek & Destroy
-
I'm really not a fan of Kill 'Em All, but I know that's a fan favourite from the album.
-
^^^
It's hands down the best track from the album.
Now then we should think about what the top 5 will look like
5. Nothing Else Matters
4. For Whom The Bell Tolls
3. Sad But True
2. One
1. Master Of Puppets
Something like that I'd imagine...
-
The Four Horseman is the best track, well my favourite anyway.
I love Kill 'Em All. It's actually a very well produced album compared to other thrash debuts from the period.
-
Watch "Whiskey in the Jar" take the top spot. Or the duet they did with Marianne Faithfull that sounded as bad as anything else she's done. That voice of hers drives me up. the. wall.

Agree, she adds nothing to that song and only spoils what is a pretty good song.
-
I haven't even heard that...and no. You do NOT need to post a link to it thank you. ;)
Four Horsemen is a good one too...probably my third favourite of the album after Phantom Lord.
As far as the production goes...it's not great...not by a long shot. But that indeed was the norm for thrash debuts at the time...for some reason.
-

You're quite welcome. I considered a link, but decided I'd have to warn myself and edit it out, if I did. :D
-
5. For Whom The Bell Tolls
Damn how high is Nothing Else Matter gonna be damnit!?!!?
-
Maybev NEM isn't in the list and there's a really cool song there instead! :whistling:
-
^^^
We weren't that lucky!
4. Nothing Else Matters
I knew this was gonna be on the list but I never expected it to be this high...
-
As I posted a while back, I don't mind the song but it really shouldn't be in the top 10.
-
Didn't see this one coming!
3. Fade To Black
Seems that Sad But True didn't make it to the list...
-
Good, I like Fade to Black, it deserves to be on the list. I'm more than happy if Sad But True doesn't make it.
-
Yeah Sad But True shouldn't have been atleast not this high on the list...but it would have deserved to be on the list heck of a lot more than Unforgiven or Nothing Else Matters...
-
Shortest Straw.
You know it's coming!
-
^^^
Actually wouldn't mind it...it's a good song! :D
-
No more surprises
2. One

^^^
Actually wouldn't mind it...it's a good song! :D
The oh-wee-oh stuff drove me up the wall. Add in tinny drums and no discernable bass sound, and it's a hard pass for me.
-
I expect it to be Master of Puppets at #1 tomorrow, but it would be funny if it was one of my favs like Outlaw Torn or Bleeding Me!

Still holding out for Whiskey in the Jar!
-
Aaaaaaaand drum roll please....
The biggest surprise song of the entire icons list is..........
Nah just kidding it's
1. Master Of Puppets.
-
Yup, no surprise there. I got 5/10 on my list and there were a couple which were nearly on my list!
So what do we do next year?!
-
So what do we do next year?!
Good question... I don't know if there'll be anything of interest from Radio Rock this year as that was to celebrate their 12th anniversary...
But we could ofcourse think of a game of our own...
-
Guess the top ten Metallica songs as we would imagine how the people of Zimbabwe would pick them?
-
"Metallica who? Them those guys banging gongas in that hut three huts down?"
-
"Metallica who? Them those guys banging gongas in that hut three huts down?"
"No, no, no, the American metal band that recorded our favorite song, 'We Did It Again' along with Swiss Beats and Ja Rule!"
"Oh THAAAT Metallica! Yes, let us make a top ten list of their songs and put that at the top! What was the one they did with Marianne Faithfull?"
"As soon as I remember the title, that's going in at number 2!"
-
Well Radio Rock has announced a new voting for this year and it's a doozy!
The 20 best albums of the past 2 decades!
Only 3 albums per voter.
Pretty impossible job if you ask me....
-
20 best albums from 2000-2019...
*any* albums, or are they going to limit votes to just the hard rock and metal stuff?
-
Well obviously rock and metal as it is Radio ROCK after all... ;)
-

OK, so I won't nominate "Lemonade" by Beyonce... :whistling:
