Very cool idea!

I would also like to encourage you all to share pics that YOU took. (and no, selfies DON'T count!!!)  I would love to see some!

Here's a pic I took during a thunder storm few years ago...that was bit too close so it burned through...but didn't need to change my underwear though...

Thanks...got lucky with that one...

No I'm not...but when there's thunder I'm out with my camera every time! Sadly thunder's are super rare around here.

The thing is I don't know how to use photoshop so that really limits my photographing as it seems that it's all about that nowadays...

A few years ago, I came out of the house one morning and was surprised to see this guy lurking around my front steps.  I picked him up with a garden rake and placed him in the woods, before taking the picture.  He'll help control the mouse population.

This much I know... if you really want to do something, you practice and fail and move from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm. I wanted to draw more than I wanted to play the electric guitar, which is why I don't play guitar... :)

I love it! Best way to take a picture of wildlife is to make sure that eye is in focus. Everything else follows from there.

My mom likes Chickens and once did a painting of a Zig-Zag guy back in the 60s that hung in my house. So I did this for her as an homage:

This is from a photo I took. I was going to take a picture of a friend, the guy on the left, but just as I snapped it, the lady on the left decided it was time to give him a kiss.

Photography can be like gambling. Sometimes, you hit the jackpot.

An old friend who passed on, but not before he had me make a drawing of his favorite picture...

That's him and his wife, I was able to finish it a few months before she passed away because of cancer. He passed on about 2 years later, after he was able to check off a few bucket list items, including a road trip across Texas and a balloon flight in Albuquerque. I got to ride with him on both of those, great memories of both.

I don't actively play anymore Billy. I no longer have the inspiration. I did start playing again about 3-4 years ago for a little while when I was jamming with my son who's a drummer but it just hasn't been happening the last few years. The amp I had in the 80's and still have in storage was a Laney AOR100 ProTube lead head with a 4x12 Cab...It hasn't been fired up in well over 20 years.

Ha I still have all those posters as well put away with pile of others. You can't see it in the photos but there was two other adjoining walls that were plastered in posters too...

No restrictions on names here. So you have to name a dog beginning with a letter that's allocated for that particular year? I don't get it?

This year , the letter is O . So you could name your dog Ozzy, Okapi , Orbit, Octave , Oscar, Ocean , etc ...
next year will run with P.
and so on. It seems there are some tolerances for the letters W, X, Y, and Z.

after some research, here are some details. Only dogs with pedigree (purebred) should be concerned:
The rule, put in place with the "A" in 1926, aims to bring order to the canine civil registry previously organized anarchically.
from the beginning, the letter Z was excluded because it reduced to twenty names the possibilities offered by the alphabet. For the same reasons, the letters K, Q, W, X and Y were also rejected.

Back to dog names...

If the name makes the animal, then go with a good one from here. I like Belka and Strelka, myself, because I enjoy the history of the space race.

Last year, I had saved a young magpie who had fallen in my chimney. I 'll never forget that.
I don't know if this has a link but for several weeks, 4 to 5 Magpies come every night to nest in a small tree in my garden, right in front of my door. It's the first year I've been watching them so closely. I like that  8) but not my dog who knows now that they are there once the sun is down. Black and white birds don't seem to be very embarrassed by my Jack Russel. Can't take pictures because if I approach little too much, they flee in a big oak a little further and then come back ....
cool .

No, we are not suppose to.  My yard is not a lawn, but a variety of moss and weeds, so deer and other animals munch on their favorites.  This groundhog usually passes by at dinnertime.

Yeah, we don't want our yards to be explicit feeding stations, but if there's opportunity for wildlife to grouse about, so be it. I get tons of birds in my yard, but I'm too urban to get wildlife during the day.

During a november evening last year , my dog found a toad in the garden and wanted to catch him with his mouth. Very bad idea! during the 30 minutes that followed my dog started shaking and drooling. I Called the vet and she told us that the next 20 minutes would be decisive: My Jack Russel could either die or survive. Thank god we had the good idea to put Lucky in the shower and rinsed his mouth with water in high doses.
The toad is toxic to dogs. Since then, I have already removed 2 amphibians from my garden and released them in a nearby wood.

Don't want to see your dog come to harm, but, it is beneficial to have toads in your garden.  All they do for a living is eat insects.  :)

Agreed! Always liked frogs and toads...

A very funny thing happened few years ago... There was a semi tame fox that lived in the neighbourhood and he quite often came to see me when I was walking outside late at night (like I always do) and it had rained and on the road there was a dead toad which was partly run over by a car and the fox smelled it for a while and then licked it and the reaction was priceless.

It looked something like this only much funnier:

The toads around here are slightly poisonous but nothing that would actually hurt...most likely they just taste vile.

Revisiting this morning a book published in 1982 by a French Rock magazine which made an inventory of the Hard Rock of the time. I wanted to share these two pages with you, those  photos are so representative of what these two legendary bands were.

^ Great shares, Tyr.

And I had an "encyclopedia of rock" from 1983 that focused on the 70s predominantly and tried to predict which bands that were hot then would carry on as major influences for the rest of the decade. It was so easy to agree 100% with them in the weeks and months after it was written, but within a year, the hype for a bunch of their predictions was already down the tubes.

The worlds highest Ferris wheel has just been opened in Dubai. 820ft (250m) high....

And a ride in it costs only 130 dirhams which is about 35$ (or 30€)! Pretty cheap I'd say...and the ride last over 30 minutes! Not sure I'd have the nerve to go though...

I saw this on Facebook and I have to say this guy Beto Ferris shows some great talent.

Usually I don't really care about fan art but this one is really really good and I have to honestly say it is better than the original art which is bit too cartoonish for my liking.

This captures the essence of the original art but with subtle yet important changes...

That is actually pretty good - an I agree with you that the original has a cartoonish feel to it; a cartoon cover for cartoon music? Maybe a cover with a dash of seriousness to it would have better highlighted some of the serious topics in the songs they released. Or not :) Regardless, that is some fine fan art!

Yep that artwork is terrific. Tony needs to see this and consider it for the new remix. Remix the the music and remix the artwork. Not sure how that would work with copyright and the original artist though.

Still handmade in Lollar, Hesse, Germany, the top gat is a Korth Mongoose, .357 Magnum, 5.25" barrel, one-piece walnut grips.

Made in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA, by Rob Schauland -  an Alchemy Custom Weaponry Prime, government-size .45 ACP with thuya wood grips and a bomar-style rear sight.

On the bottom, made by Master Gunsmith Brennon High out of Berryville, Arkansas, USA, a Nighthawk Custom Talon, commander-size, chambered for 10mm Automatic ammunition, double-diamond walnut grips and sporting a bob-tail handle cut.

Do you also have historical pieces in your collection?

Only one - an 1891 Argentine Mauser that had been "sporterized" at some point in the distant past.My dad bought it from some guy in 1967 for deer hunting, then when I was old enough I used it for the same. It hasn't been fired in 40 years. As I recall, that thing is one accurate rifle. We would zero it in prep for hunting season at 300 yards with the iron sights. I mention that because anymore when I hear folks talking about hunting rifles, the mantra seems to be if it is more than a hundred yards they "have to have a scope".

More to the point of your question, I don't really collect firearms. I have about ten that I acquired a few years ago via my dad; the rest I accumulate more so than collect. Every once in a while, my side biz presents the opportunity to pick a gun for free or dirt cheap, simply as a thanks for selling a given manufacturer's stuff. That's where those three came from, the Nighthawk showed up a week ago.

So, when the opportunity presents itself, I try to get something I think is cool :)

The grip on that .45 is STUNNING!

Thanks, I really like it. The coloring and grain on thuya wood is amazing, and it is interesting in and of itself. Those grips (as is most of that kind of wood these days) comes from the Atlas mountains. It was probably taken from the stump of a tree that had been cut down hundreds of years ago - or more. Most of the forests have been destroyed over time, so they go out dig around in the sand looking for old stumps, etc. So, most of what you find for sale made out of it are small items like bowls or gun grips :) Artisans will make the items and sell to a procurer for next to nothing, who then sells it to another biz, and so on until it ends up in a retail shop for ridiculous amounts of money.

It has been in demand since ancient times, supposedly the Queen of Sheba had a desk made out of it. It's one of the wood types mentioned in the bible, by a different name though. It goes by different monikers over time and depending on who is talking about it.
