I didn't see much of the second half, but what I did see (last 20mins or so), Germany had lots of endeavour without creating much if anything, because France had parked the bus!

Pretty energetic game from both France and Germany...But Germany did feel little unarmed eventhough they seemingly controlled the match and they did score that only goal too...too bad it was behind their own goalie!

Finland vs Russia...Based on the lackluster game we saw from Russia during the Belgium match it actually raised the stocks for the Horned Owls... My pre tournament predictions went for Russia but now I'm thinking Finland can score a tie out of this one and honestly a win isn't totally out of the realm of possibilities but I'm thinking a tie...

Turkey vs Wales....same thing for Turkey...they were horrid against Italy. Granted Wales wasn't playing that joyful footsy that we saw 5 years ago either...but I'm still thinking this should go to Wales but could also just be a tie.

Italy vs Switzerland...Italy was quite strong in their first match but the Swiss aren't a piece of cake either. And as long as "fall down" Shaqiri is on the field anything can happen if the ref isn't paying close attention. Italy should win but this could very well be another tie...

I do think Finland can get the point they want from Russia... I'm not sure they can win, but I'm rooting for them. 1-1


It's thought that Turkey could have the backing of 30,000 fans. That could be an important factor, but I'm still going 1-0 to Wales


Italy vs Switzerland might be quite tight. If Italy have a good game look for a clear win for them. Tentatively a 3-1 to Italy.

Finland showed in 1940 that it can beat Russia, so long as the Russians do not apply overwhelming force. Teams are limited to 11 players on a side, so Finland wins today.

The Welsh don't have a long history of facing down the Turks. But, given the terrain they'll be on, it's advantage longbows over bombards: Wales wins.

Swiss pikemen v Italian horsemen: Typically, it's the pikemen that win out here, but it could be a tie if the Italians don't engage and the Swiss don't press forward. Expect a defensive game on both sides, conducive to a tie.

I had to go out and only saw the first 40 minutes. Sad to see the Fins lost, it seemed quite even up until then. But they're not out of it yet!

Finland played well but Russia had improved their game quite a bit.

We were able to get near but even luck wasn't on our side this time. We really needed the point from here to advance...but honestly it's just pretty damn great to be in the tournament. And this won't be our last run I am sure.

The first goal was an offside literally by the hair of it...I honestly thought the rule was from the player's feet but I guess that has changed at some point and I've just missed it.

Wales won 2-0 against Turkey. It wasn't pretty, a hostile crowd, and against a better team they would undoubtedly have conceded some goals. That's 4pts and they can't finish lower than 3rd in their group so it's probably good enough to progress to the last 16 even if that's not mathematically certain.... And Bale missed a penalty too! They can relax against Italy in their 3rd game... they might even get a result!

Wales is sitting pretty, for sure. And if it can beat or tie Switzerland, even better for the Welsh!
