Having a bit of vacation this week in San Antonio, Texas. Wife is at a business conference, I get to hang out at the hotel until dinnertime. Weather here is rainy and cool, which is my favorite weather, and there is a lovely tree just outside my hotel window I can watch during the day.

Taking things *very* easy this week! :smug:

Today is Patriots' Day here in Massachusetts, the only state in my country that has this holiday.
It commemorates the battles of Lexington and Concord, which were fought near Boston in 1775 by the brave men who stood up against British rule and King George.  The start of the Revolutionary War.

I've been to those sites, quite peaceful villages there, these days. But, yes, over 250 years ago, things were much different and I do thank them for that difference.

Johnnie Adams & The Massachusettes had a regional hit back in 1962 with "You're Not My King (Set Me Free)", on the Liberty label, as I recall ficticiously...

While working at a hospital years ago, we were required to send out a weekly report highlighting what we did, to the rest of the people in our larger departmental group. Mine was about 20 people. Every year around the 4th of July I'd send out a copy of the Declaration of Independence with the advice to, "read it as a reminder of where we came from as a polity."

People always thought I was a little bit off...
