Six Californians start a club to discuss the works of Jane Austen, only to find their relationships -- both old and new -- begin to resemble 21st century versions of her novels.  Although the ending is unrealistic, I was entertained a bit. 7/10

Finally got around to seeing the whole of From Dusk 'Til Dawn... the horror / crime / fantasy from Robert Rodriguez starring George Clooney, Quentin Tarantina (who also wrote the script), Harvey Keitel and Julliette Lewis with a sensational cameo from Salma Hayek. I've seen the first half on late night TV but never managed to stay awake to the end of it!

A film of two halves, the first half is the Gecko brothers (Clooney/Tarantino) on the run and hi-jacking the RV with the Fuller family (Keitel/Lewis...) as they escape across the border to Mexico. Once there they head for the Titty Twister bar where the second horror/fantasy half of the film kicks in. Hayek plays the star dancer in the bar and in her bikini is as sexy as hell!

It's a gory/sweary blast. The effects are a little dated, but hey! it's 1996. 8/10

^^^^^^
You are right about the 2 halves.  For me, the 1st half an 8, the 2nd half a 6.  So averaged out, a 7/10.

Last weekend, we dug out Yellow Submarine and had a great family sing-a-long with the tunes. Good times. :D

I'd rate the halves completely differently... 1st half would get about a 6 and the second a full 10!

The retelling of France's iconic but ill-fated queen, Marie Antoinette. From her betrothal and marriage to Louis XVI at 15 to her reign as queen at 19 and to the end of her reign as queen, and ultimately the fall of Versailles.  The costume and set designs are nothing short of incredible. 7.5/10

Had not seen this one in awhile - it was still very funny if a bit dated. I would say it was an enjoyable time killer, nothing to complex - just an scenic sort of a ride along with the characters. 7.5/10

A cop teams up with a professional skydiver to capture a renegade computer hacker on the run from the law.  Decent story and some great skydiving scenes. 7.5/10

I watched It: Chapter Two yesterday, the second part of the Stephen King horror story which is set 27 years after the events of the first film 2017s It.

At the end of the first film the scary clown Pennywise had been hurt and retreated to its lair. The kids - known as The Losers Club - have grown up and gone their separate ways. Their memory of the earlier events having faded from their minds. Then one day murder returns to the town in the form of the killer clown... the only member of the Losers left in town contacts them as they must now complete the job.

The film is 10 minutes short of 3 hours and to be honest it could be trimmed by 30 minutes and you wouldn't lose any of the plot! It is a pretty good film but not quite as good as the first one... how much of that is down to its length I'm not sure!

It has a stella cast for a horror film: Jessica Chastain, James McEvoy, Bill Hader among others and a returning Bill Skarsgarde as Pennywise. The kids from the first film also return for flashback scenes.

I enjoyed it, I wish it had been a little shorter or less slow, but the scares are pretty frequent. 7.5/10

Selma Hayek was the bomb, she’s from Mexico beautiful lady.

Correction made, I meant to say she's from Mexico not Spain, Penelope Cruz is from Spain, another beautiful woman.

A young woman recovering from a nervous breakdown moves with her husband to a boys' school, and finds herself being terrorized by a mysterious one-armed man, but nobody believes her.  Interesting twist in this Hammer production. 7/10

RAMBO

John J. Rambo has been living a quiet life in Thailand but that is about to change as he reluctantly agrees to take a bunch of aid workers to Burma to help victims of persecution. He leaves them only to be capture by the junta. A daring rescue mission is planned with aid of some mercenaries and Rambo must once again join the fight.

The movie not only amps up the action once again but it also shows the horrors of genocide in a whole new way. The brutality is brought right into the face of the viewer in all of its ugliness and gore.

This is the most realistic of all the Rambo movies (so far) and it leaves nothing to the imagination.

Also it brings the motto of a real soldier into play "You life for nothing or you die for something" which is the line that captures the very essense of what John J. Rambo is all about.

This is one of the few movies that really shows what happens when being shot with a .50 cal machine gun and what its like being on the receiving end of the most powerful sniper rifle in the world the mighty Barrett .50 cal. You can't help but both smile and grasp at the seat in horror at the same time when School Boy (Matthew Marsden) pulls that trigger and you see the head of junta member blow clean off.
The violence here is strong and gory but it all serves a purpose. Genocide IS brutal and in order to bring that point across you need to show it and Stallone did a great job in that.

The ending scene where Rambo stands over the body ridden battlefield is both honest and touching.

This was an instant classic and as time has passed it has helped to etch this not only as an integral part of the series but as the finest instalment of it. John Rambo finally has come full circle and now accepts what he is, the perfect weapon in a brutal world.

This was surprisingly good and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is a far better actor than he is a rapper. And Bruce Willis is hilarious as a vicious Mob boss. 7.5/10
