We saw Blinded by the Light this afternoon. The story of a young Pakistani man living on the outskirts of London during the late 80s. He's trying to find his own identity whilst conforming to his fathers traditional wishes. He's in a bit of rut until a friend of his lends him some Bruce Springsteen tapes. He instantly connects with the music and the lyrics of The Boss. He realises what he wants to do is become a writer, and his desires lead to conflict with his family and other friends.

There's a lot of early Springsteen in this film which I don't mind. The plot - against a backdrop of racism and hardships - is workman-like, the acting solid, but there are few names that anyone outside the UK would recognise except maybe Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter from the MCU) plays a teacher. It's directed by Gurinder Chadha who is probably best known for Bend It Like Beckham. 6.5/10

An evil spirit leaves the body of an executed criminal and sneaks into the body of his next human host, a French magistrate.  Does anyone know if Ozzy got the title of his album from this film? 6/10

NATIONAL TREASURE - BOOK OF SECRETS

Treasure hunter Ben Gates is pulled into a treasure hunt after a fellow hunter accuses one of his ancestors might have been involved in the assasination of Abraham Lincoln. So Ben and his team end up hunting for Cibola, the lost city of gold.

The main cast consists of the same players than in the first film, Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight, Justin Bartha and Harvey Keitel with the additions of Helen Mirren and Ed Harris. They all do a great job again and Jon Voight in particular gets a much bigger role which is nice. Ed Harris is a great addition as the villain who in the end isn't that big of a villain after all.

The action is bit bigger and flows very nicely, same with the humor. The mythology isn't quite as big as it was in the first film but some of the clue hunting actually more interesting in this one and as a whole this works better.

And Cibola itself is quite a sight indeed. Although bit in a different location than on most other stories (including Carl Barks' fantastic Seven Cities Of Cibola comic with Scrooge McDuck) but the mythology is still there.

A very entertaining movie and I can say I enjoyed it bit more than the first one and in the end it did hint for a possible sequel which sadly never came to be, I for one would have loved to see more of this.

It's done. I finally saw this cult movie of the hippie culture of the late sixties. Well, the pictures are very beautiful like the bikes. The rest, I must say that I was bored throughout a film:  almost non-existent dialogues, empty story. Only a few meetings during their journeys are to remember (Jack Nicholson)... and this final scene , my god , just awful. This film is aging badly, I think.

I think the care-free life portrayed in the film seems extra boring compared to today's hustle and bustle.  :(

Comedy about a skilled London police officer who is transferred to a small town with a dark secret.  The first 3/4 of the film I found amusing.  The last 1/4, fell flat. 6/10

Not as funny as I would have thought considering it was written by the genius that is John Cleese.
It was still a fun watch and some laughs were had throughout the film. 7/10

Some genuinely funny scenes and a strong cast make this run of the mill comedy more appealing. 7/10

A decent movie, with some suprisingly good acting add some flare to this slow enjoyable mess. 8/10

I did not think that something that was "slow" and a "mess" could be "enjoyable".  :))
