In the last week or so we've seen Isn't It Romantic, Goosebumps 2 and On The Basis of Sex.

Isn't It Romantic
We saw this primarily because the girlfiend likes rom-coms and has a thing about Liam Hemsworth (as well as his brothers!). The film also stars Rebel Wilson, Adam Devine and Priyanka Chopra. The premise is that Wilsons character is generally unloved and the men she fancies just don't notice her. Then whilst having her handbag snatched she bangs her head and wakes up in a world where everyone loves her including one of her heartthrobs....

... the film is rubbish, it went straight to Netflix in the UK not getting a cinema release like it did in the US. It felt like an extended TV episode. Production values were ok, but the plot, the script and well, everything else was sub-standard. 3/10

Goosbumps 2
We saw this on rental... I had seen the first film and quite enjoyed it. This one though has a completely different cast (yes, Jack Black reprises his role as RL Stine but it is only about 10 minutes or so at the end) and it feels completely different. The main villain is Slappy the ventriloquist dummy who was a lot more effective in the first film. Anyway it's Halloween, the kids find an old book which they open and release Slappy, who goes on a rampage. There really isn't much more to it than that and it was a dissapointment. 5/10

On the Basis of Sex
The story follows Ruth Bader Ginsburg from Universiity in the mid-50s to her first major womens rights case in the early 70s. Not to be confused with the documentary RBG which also came out recently. Felicity Jones and Armie Hammer lead this interesting Biopic, which is well acted and doesn't dwell too much on the legal details. It's a pretty good film. 7/10

An aged outlaw plans to help his estranged daughter when he discovers she is forced to live as a saloon whore.  Slow and boring. 3/10

Though I liked the first one better Creed 2 was a well done movie and if predictable it was delivered at a nice pace. The actors are all solid and believable with both Stallone and Jordan giving great performances. That being said it is still about 20 to 25 minutes longer than it needed to be. 8/10

Spent Saturday and Sunday getting some Marvel movies watched that I have yet to see.

Saturday we watched Ant-Man and then Ant-Man and the Wasp. Both very good films, although I liked the second one better.

Sunday wife and I went and saw Captain Marvel. Very good film, great acting, good story. MCU has very few misses and this one didn't disappoint. After that we watched at home the one that started it all, Iron Man and then Iron Man 2. Again good films, but I was a bit disappointed in Iron Man from just the stand point of how great every one was saying it was. It was good but honestly I enjoyed the second one better.

So now I only have 6 more to go to be all caught up on MCU

A drama set in the 1920s, where free-spirited Janie Crawford's search for happiness leads her through several different marriages, challenging the morals of her small town. 6.5/10

I've not seen Captain Marvel yet... probably on Wednesday, I hope it will be good!

I prefer the original Iron Man, I thought 2 and 3 were among the weaker entries in the MCU.

Which are the 6 left for you to watch?

I enjoyed Iron Man, I just heard so much how it might be the best of the bunch so I probably went in with higher expectations.

The six I haven't seen yet are Iron Man 3, The Hulk, Thor, Thor Dark World, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man Home Coming. Yeah I am all out of order and what not. I think our plan is to watch them all again in April leading up to Endgame.

I know this movie gets torched and there are some pretty ridiculous things in it. I still would argue that all in all it is a enjoyable film. Definitley the worst of the Indiana Jones movies it still has some powerfull scenes and some great special effects. And Harrison Ford is always great to watch 6.5/10

I guess the Captain Marvel star, Brie Larson, won't care what you think.  Her latest complaint is that there are too many white men in the film critic profession.  I guess she figures that a white man can't tell how good a movie is if it doesn't star another white guy.  What an idiot.

^^^ Sorry it's a fake story spread by people who would prefer to keep women down! Her comments about "white critics" were made about A Wrinkle in Time and did not relate to any other film.

Well I don't think anyone can deny that Brie Larson has got some serious issues... :zomg:

Anyways I was supposed to go and see Captain Marvel on saturday but the only showing is on a big iSense room where the tickets cost a fortune...so I'm gonna have to pass...maybe next week if it still runs.

I know what she said.  I never said that she stated that Captain Marvel was not made for white men.  I said that she stated that there were too many white men in the film critic business.  As if a white man can't tell whether a movie is good or not, whether it is Captain Marvel, A Wrinkle In Time, or you-name-it.

WOW. Finally saw this one. There are some hardboiled noir characters that emerge fully fleshed in this - rightfully - legendary film. Welles' character and his heartless scam then burst into the view of the viewer, turning the potboiler on its head, preparing the ground for the epic, stark final sequence.

Side note - Yes, people in Vienna *will* lecture complete strangers like they do in this movie. Just forget to check to see if photography is permitted at a museum exhibit, and you'll get lectured, too...
