What was the last Movie you saw... Part III

Nice summation of Death Wish Typhon. I'm a little in both camps on this. I like the story behind it and enjoyed the movie enough on first viewing but watching it years later it does have the touch of the b-grades about it. Bronson strayed quite a bit into b-grade territory later in his career.

I remember the first time I watched it. I think it was the very early 80's when video stores had come into vogue. My dad hired it and we all sat around as a family to watch it and I specifically remember dad quickly diving for the stop button on the vcr when the rape scene came on. Being the inquisitive kid I was I couldn't help sneakily rewatching the scene when my parents went out for a few hours the next day

I watched a bootleg of Evil Dead: The musical.

Not sure really how I feel about it. It was cheesy but that was the whole point of it. Probably would have been much more fun if you attend a live show. Either way if you are a fan of Evil Dead you should check it out.

Just saw BlacKKKlansman last night.

It is a very powerful film, there's some humor but make no mistake it's a Spike Lee drama with an ending that puts questions directly in your court to deal with.

The entire theater was silent at the end, and I think that's what Lee intended. Race relations in the USA are complicated and we want to find a solution, but I know that solutions that involve separatism or supremacy are not the solutions that we're looking for.

We saw Christopher Robin yesterday. It's a weird little film because I'm not sure who it is aimed at. It's too adult oriented to really appeal to children but then again it's a Winnie the Pooh film so is not really going to appeal to adults?

Basically it's post war Britain and a 40 something Christopher Robin works in London for a luggage company who are struggling. He is given the task to make some cost cuttings by the Monday following a weekend he was supposed to spend in the country with his wife and daughter. He let's them down, the stress of that and the possibility of laying off workers causes Pooh to come back into his life and help him focus on what's important whilst trying to find his other childhood friends.

It's okay but nothing special. 6/10

We saw Phantom Thread on rental yesterday. Absolutely NOT my sort of film... slow, boring, long not much happens... did I mention it's slow! I'm sure the acting from Day-Lewis is great but it's difficult to judge when your not invested in the character. 4/10

Today I saw The Equalizer 2. I do like these sort of films if they are intelligently done. And you know with Denzel Washington he isn't going to put his name on any old rubbish. This is intelligent and well crafted, acted and with some depth to it's characters. Great stuff. 8/10

It was the first time I had seen it as well, even though it was made back in 1999.  I look forward to see if you like it as much as I did.  It is pretty darn accurate to actual events.

^^Yeah it's a great film. Got quite a few Academy award nominations if I remember correctly. Pacino was great as always but in particular Russell Crowe's performance was stellar.

@Kilo, I love those sorts of films too, I really enjoyed the first Equalizer so gotta check this one out before it disappears.
