some Classic buddy movies this week

I didn't remember the Murtaugh family was so little present in this sequel.Too bad. The first is really better probably because of the Shadow company.

A pure pleasure to rewatch again and again .

To be honest, I was expecting a lot worse. Although too long, Zack Snyder managed to maintain an original story 'til the end. Even Ben Affleck is not bad.

^^^ Yes, it is better than the reviews and Affleck and Gadot are pretty good in it... but it is still a long way from the class of the Bale / Nolan Batman trilogy.

It's that time of year when pickings at the cinema are starting to get a little thin. We saw The Children Act on Friday, more because there wasn't much else out there than any particular urge to watch this legal drama. In actual fact the performances from Emma Thompson (as a judge who resides over juvenile court) and Stanley Tucci (who plays her husband) were pretty good. In fact all the performances were fine it's just that the story is a little weak and really the whole thing seemed like a made for TV film. 6/10

Saturday we saw The Cotton Club on rental... the girlfiend has been on a Francis Ford Copola binge lately... early roles here for Nicolas Cage, Richard Gere and Laurence Fisburne, and the first time I've seen Herman Munster (Fred Gwynne) in another role! ;) What I really took from the film is not the gangster story (which was fairly run-of-the-mill) but the attention to detail of the performers in The Cotton Club, the swing / jazz singers and tap dance* scenes are really quite memorable, Gregory Hines was particularly good in this respect. 7/10

* I don't usually appeciate dance!

^^^^^^
Check out Pet Sematary, Disorganized crime and My cousin Vinny for some other Fred Gwynn roles. Nothing great by any means but it is weird to see him outside of the Munsters.

Thanks. I have seen Pet Semetry (some years ago), and I don't remember much about it except that the book was much better! My Cousin Vinny has sorta been on my radar as something to watch but I haven't got around to it yet.

The perfect example to prove that a sequel to a very great success is a bad idea, minus Terminator "Judgment Day".

Very very weird. difficult to capture the real meaning. The last 20 minutes are at the limit of the tolerable, not for blood and guts but for the crescendo of all those people who go into the house .... 'til the end.
Like always , can't stand Xavier Barden . This is the very first movie I enjoyed Jennifer Laurence .
Michelle Pfeiffer is incredibly hot and evil , Ed Harris perfect as usual .
