^^^Nice I’m glad someone else on here loves Inferno as much as I do. You shouldn’t be surprised though. I’ve mentioned it quite a bit over the years.

Well that would mean I'd remember stuff...I really don't... :D

My top 3:

3. Ace of Spades
2. Bomber
1. Overkill

That's how I play 'em, too.

Once everyone’s done I might attempt to rank the remaining albums from #11 to #22. I have them all and know them all pretty well.

Then if anyone is interested I’ll post my entire Motörhead vinyl collection in the vinyl thread.

Take your time Kilo. Some albums can take time to grow on you. Sometimes forcing yourself to listen to something when not in the mood can have a negative impact on how you hear an album too. Or you can get a bit fatigued with all the listening and that can have a negative impact also.

And it's time for the Number One!

OVERKILL

This is one of those few albums out there that has absolutely no weak songs. Goes into the company with Sabbath's Mob Rules or Purple's Machine Head or Priest's Painkiller. After few albums the band finally found their drive and power in a way that only few bands are able to.
The title track is hands down their best opening track and one of their best tracks ever. The fierce drum intro sets the tone for the whole album. Stay Clean, I Won't Pay Your Price, No Class, Damage Case, Metropolis, Limb From Limb...all timeless classics. This was this line up at their very finest and it also solidified Motörhead as one of the originators of the new wave of British Heavy Metal...eventhough Lemmy always insisted that they were rock 'n roll...but what is metal if not Rock 'n Roll played fast and loud...and what is a better way to describe Overkill? Or Motörhead for that matter?

Very true. You don't want to give an album a ranking just to be done with it. Keeping it fresh means both keeping it honest and keeping it fun.

Does anyone know if On Parole is in anyway compareable with their debut. They have a similar track listing but I think they've been re-recorded. I only have the debut on cassette and I no longer have a player!

My copy of On Parole credited Larry Wallis for guitar on a number of tracks, and he def. has a different sound from Fast Eddie.

The original On Parole was recorded in 75 before the official debut with Larry Wallis on guitar. Sounds proto Motörhead or like demos versions of the early songs. It ended up getting shelved by UA and was re-recorded with the classic lineup and released as Motörhead in 77. The original then got an unauthorised release later in 79 after Motörhead had established themselves.

Ok, I've now listened to everything, it's now a case of thinking what order I need to put them in. I need to check out the track listings, perhaps relisten to some songs to confirm final positions. The five new albums were all pretty good, 2 of them particularly so!

I'll post my 10 tomorrow.

Yes bring it on. Particularly interested where you rank the ones you hadn’t previously previously indulged.

Ok, here's my list:

10. Bastards

No. 10 could have been the self titled debut, but Bastards gets it as being a little more consistent. This is a new album to me and I can see it rising higher up the 10 once I've listened to it more.

9. Iron Fist

A good solid album, no real standout tracks but no filler either.

8. 1916

I thought this would be higher. But it only has two great tracks and some okay ones, too much filler I'm afraid.

7. Bomber

Some really good early tracks here, just not as many as some of their other early albums.

6. Kiss of Death

Another new one to me, this could be challenging the top three once I'm into it more.

5. March or Die

I had dismissed this as mainly filler and hadn't played it since the 90s. But when I played it last week I was so shocked at how good it was. Maybe my taste has changed in 20+ years. I think I'll play this more often from now on!

4. Another Perfect Day

I always liked this one, it has some of my favourite songs on it including Dancing on Your Grave!

3. Ace of Spades

A bonafide classic, choc full of fan favourites (and mine!). A couple of weak tracks drags this one down to 3rd though.

2. Inferno

I heard this for the first time on Tuesday... I've played it a couple of time since and I absolutely love it, in a few more listens it might be vying for the top spot!

1. Overkill

I know it's an obvious choice... but it is the obvious choice, every track is pretty great and there are 5 of my all time favourite Motorhead songs on it.
