Hi KDC and everyone. I doubt it will still be in cinemas more than a week. My theatre was dead and it was the opening screening. 15 people tops were there. It seems the appetites not really there for fans to go the movies to see a Maiden doco these days which is in stark contrast to when I went to the opening session of Flight 666 18 years ago. The cinema was full that time.

Seeing it on the big screen adds nothing to the experience so I’d wait for streaming tbh.

I'm sure the movie is bit more directed to the casual fan base than the hardcore fans..considering we know all the stuff already anyways.

Also Bruce did say in an interview that it wasn't so much about the band as it was about the fans...what ever that means.

I won't be seeing this in theaters but if it comes to one of my streaming services I'll be sure to check it out.

Marshall (2017)

Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American Supreme Court Justice, battles through one of his career-defining cases while working for the NAACP.  Impressive individual.  9/10

SNEAKERS

A team of highly skilled security experts gets roped into stealing a top secret box for the government only to realise that they have stolen something very dangerous and not for who they think.

Robert Redford leads the team of Dan Aykroid, Sidney Poitier, David Strathairn, River Phoenix and Mary McDonnell in this comedy classic. Ben Kingsley also does a great job.

Cleverly written and balances nicely with mild action and great humor. The cast is brilliant and the story moves on just at a right pace.

One of those movies that is hard to categorize...it's not really an action comedy, it's not a spy thriller, it's not a hacker movie but it's something of a combination of them all and it makes it work.

Eventhough technology has gone miles ahead still this movie feels a bit like a timeless classic. I had not seen this one before and I'm rather shocked that I hadn't.

In Time (2011)

In the a future society, the aging gene has been switched off.  Instead of money, time has become the currency and is the way people pay for luxuries and necessities.  The rich can live forever, while the rest struggle to acquire more time by working.  A poor young man (Justin Timberlake) who suddenly comes into a fortune of time finds himself on the run from the police, or "time keepers", who think he has stolen his stash of time.

A very interesting concept, good performances and convincing technological sets make this film work.  9/10

SNAKE EYES

A slightly corrupt cop Rick Santoro gets invited to a boxing match by an old friend who is also head of security for a VIP, during the fight the VIP gets assassinated and Santoro finds himself in a middle of a conspiracy while he tries to solve the murder and save the life of a witness.

Nicholas Cage shines as Santoro and over acts just enough, Gary Sinise does a solid preformance as the head of security. Carla Gugino is the witness.

Lots of other familiar faces from the 90s can be spotted in smaller roles in this Brian De Palma thriller, that many consider not among his finest but to be honest eventhough this isn't as violent as some of his other films it still holds it's own mainly due to the great preformances of the lead actors. Also De Palma knows exactly how to film the movie without giving away too much but adding subtle hints and odd camera angles that give out clues.

A great little conspiracy thriller that is better than it's reputation.

The Sheep Detectives

This one's got loads of CGI for the sheeps, but the voice work is excellent and it's a fun film. I think it is fun for the whole family, as the acting - voice and human - is very well done and drew me on in to the story. Just under 2 hours and has some heartwarming stuff in it as they solve a murder mystery.

I saw it at Alamo Drafthouse that had loads of Spaghetti Western posters for decorations. I saw one that had Klaus Kinski "as Reverend Cotten" that I'm going to have to watch now. In English, it's "A Fistful of Death". In Italian, it's got two names:  "Giù la testa... hombre" (Duck your head, man) and "Doppia taglia per Minnesota Stinky" (The Strange Tale of... uh... Minnesota Stinky???) I found it on YouTube, so it's the next movie I plan to watch.

Fistful Of Death? And even the font is the same as a certain Leone classic...

There's also "A Barrel of Dollars" and other titles designed to throw off the person with poor translation skills into checking out the movies...

No Hard Feelings (2023)

On the brink of losing her childhood home, a 32 year old woman (Jennifer Lawrence) discovers an interesting job listing.  Wealthy parents looking for someone to “date” their introverted 19-year-old son before he leaves for college.

An amusing story with good acting.  8/10
