My second favorite of the original series movies just behind the impeccable Voyage Home. This movie still packs a punch even all this time later and the cast are all superb. 9/10

This was one of the first movies that I saw at a movie theater and started a life long love affair of Science Fiction and Fantasy.
This movie is only bested by The Empire Strikes Back and it is so awesome to see Luke become a confidant and strong hero, this is where the movie truly shines. And Vaders sacrifice will not be slandered in this fans eye no matter what Disney tries to do. 9.5/10

I'm thinking about watching the first, second, and fourth films of the original Planet of the Apes series. I didn't care much for the third and the fifth was more than a bit off...

Saturday Night Sci-Fi

In the colorful future, a cab driver unwittingly becomes the central figure in the search for a legendary cosmic weapon to keep Evil and Mr. Zorg at bay.  In fact, it was so colorful that the overall story gets lost.  Visually entertaining though. 6.5/10
Believe me, there is no story at all.
An incredible cast (Ian Holm and Gary Oldman !!) for such an awful movie has always amazed me. Luc Besson was barely 20 years old when he wrote this "script". What a joke ! The costumes signed Jean-Paul Gaultier and the unbearable performance of Chris Tucker add a little more to the wreck of this thing. To forget very quickly.
Agree with both you and Typhon’s sentiments. Visually stunning but most everything else is atrocious.

but Bessons best film is Leon (IMO)
Yep couldn't agree more, love that film.

Love Léon too.
his first movies during the 80s are the best. Subway with Chistophe Lambert and Isabelle Adjani, The Big Blue despite a non-existent story but visually magnificent with Jean Reno (Léon), Jean-Marc Barr and Rosanna Arquette. He will end the decade with the realization of Nikita, my favorite with Jeanne D'arc.
His first films are very marked by their "French" production like Subway, the score signed by Eric Serrat is excellent.

We all watched An American Pickle on HBOMax last night. Seth Rogen did a great turn in his dual role, very fun character piece.

Saturday Night Sci-Fi

A scientist leads a team of Navy SEALs back in time to the Cretaceous Period to rescue the first team he sent back during the 1940s.  Worst special fx I have seen in a 21st century movie.  Some of the dinosaurs actually looked cartoonish.  Combine that with weak acting, a silly story, and the result is total trash. 2/10

What a powerful movie that is also a artistic masterpiece. This is perhaps the best Civil War movie that I have seen to date.
Simply amazing!! 9/10

Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery underground.  Good special fx, but story was kind of silly. 5/10

Signs (2002)

Love this movie. Fabulous acting by the whole family.
Always pleasant to find here and there all the signs that the film hides and not only those that appeared in the fields , like the babyphone that reveals "unknown" dialogues only when the whole family is in touch...
The way the fate of Graham's (Gibson) wife is brought to the stage screen is perfect.
as usual, Joaquin Phoenix is flawless.
9/10

Saturday Night Sci-Fi

A factory worker begins to suspect that he is a spy after visiting Rekall - a company that provides its clients with implanted fake memories of a life they would like to have led.  More than enough action for my taste.  Have to admit, it was the 2 gorgeous women that kept me watching.  :)  6/10

So much better...that's an absolute classic. The new version is rubbish.

Lots of movie fun here... we watched Finding Ohana on Friday night as a fun little family-friendly movie that's essentially a sanitized version of The Goonies. It was sweet fun, light on continuity, and a good time as we looked for Easter Eggs referencing back to the earlier movie, including one of the kids from the Goonies returning as an adult actor in this film.

Then, yesterday, my daughter wanted to celebrate her birthday with watching all three Back to the Future movies back to back to back. That was great fun, and she freely shared her superfan commentary throughout. Good times with the family.

Reading this a lyrical passage from mr. Alice Cooper comes to mind:

"You can burn my house, you can cut my hair, you can make me wrestle naked with a grizzly bear, you can poison my cat, baby I don't care....but if you talk in the movies I'll kill you right there!"
