This was OK and has not aged terribly. It was not scary, but it was creepy and unsettling. 6.5/10

Yes they were from NYC but they still had a connection with those bands especially Metallica playing some shows in NY with them and hanging out during the recording of Kill ‘Em All, they were on the same label back then.

Family movie night took us to The Neverending Story. Fun film, but the DVD sound is way too quiet.

^^^ I really loved Neverending Story as a kid!

This was a fun what if film with some good writing, competent and at times innovative animation. 7.5/10

Roger Moore is my absolute favorite James Bond and I just love watching him ham it up in this fast moving story. The stunts are just incredible as with most of Bond films and the locations are beautiful. 8/10

Watched The African Queen finally. Loved it! The final interactions with the captain of the Louiza make it a perfect 10!

So many movies from the 30s-early 60s in the USA were excellent stories because of the novella format. Shorter than a novel, longer than a short story, a novella typically has a low character density and follows a main story arc closely, with limited subplots going on. They translate almost perfectly to a 90-minute movie that ties up all the loose ends. Really tight storytelling when done by a master.

This is my least favorite of all the Star Trek movies featuring the original crew. It is still a fun movie though!! 7/10

Watched Mortal Kombat last night. A turkey so bad, it's good. The kids and I had a great time throwing tomatoes at it.

After that, I had to watch The Battle of Britain. Great film, wonderful soundtrack, 10/10.

Now I'm watching the 4K remastered version of the "Liberation" series of films. Originally made in Russia in the early 70s, they cover the Eastern Front from Kursk to the Fall of Berlin.

Have not seen this movie since I was a kid, must be 30 years or more!!! It was surprisingly well made and though it has some problems it was an enjoyable watch. Takes me back  :wootwoot:  8/10

Saturday Night Sci-Fi

Extraterrestrials traveling in high-tech flying saucers, contact a scientist as part of a plan to enslave the inhabitants of Earth.  I watched the colorized version, which added to the enjoyment of the film.  Not bad for a 1956 production. 7/10

So I’m watching the original Death Wish just now which I haven’t watched for close to 40 years and I have a vivid memory of my dad hiring it when I was young and the whole family sitting around to watch it. About 10 minutes in there is a brutal rape and murder scene and I distinctly remember my dad diving for the stop button on the VHS machine. He then promptly kicked me and my brothers and sister out of the room and continued on watching it.

The following day my mum and dad went out and left us at home and still being intrigued from my dad stopping us from watching the movie the day before of coarse we had to put it on and proceeded to watch whole thing. I had not watched the movie since but that particular moment has always stayed with me.

So I’m watching it now for the first time since then and that scene comes on and am totally shocked to see that Jeff Goldblum was one of the rapist hoodlums and uses the c word quite frequently in that particular scene. I had no idea he was in that movie and looking it up on Wiki it was his very first movie and is listed as Freak #1 lol

Id probably think he wouldn’t be proud of doing that scene but it just goes to show that you’ve gotta start somewhere and he would’ve been prepared to do anything to get a start in the industry.
